That's part of the problem, I think. Global Warming/Climate Change is too closely associated with weather related events. And weather predictors get regularly laughed out of town, sometimes with good reason.

I'd think we might do better off talking more about all the terraforming humans have done with population growth, and the demands of a civilized society. A little like viruses and mutant cells multiplying and causing all sorts of trouble. I think people can get their heads around cutting down all the trees and paving and building until things look like Coruscant is not a good thing. How much of the Earth have we already done that too? Millions of years to store energy in gas, oil, coal. Release huge chunks of it in only 150 years. I think people can recognize the imbalance in that. What we do isn't "natural cycles." But we don't talk about that part much. Certainly, not daily, like we talk about the weather. So, "Why is it snowing in Denver on May Day" sticks in the brain easier.

Now, for the insane people...when the war for the right to use the potentially economically cheaper Northern Passage starts with Russia/Canada on one side and the US on the other...then maybe they'll pay attention. But probably not before. The economic, and political fallouts are coming. We want the US to "win" right? So that's another way to change the conversation...

TikiDuck's quote not mine... and yes a majority of those who are anti- global warming call themselves Republican...but not all Republicans feel that way.

Big business/money will dismiss or ignore these facts in order to further their particular goals.
Then there are those who have nothing to gain. They just accept the lies and propaganda, not bothering with any personal inquiry.
As has been said, they are often the most vocal in denial while being nearly ignorant of the facts.
The NASCAR/Wrestlemania reference was nothing but a stereotypical jab at less educated, gullible people.
If I have offended anyone who falls into that category, I apologize for my shortcomings.
