But happily, we live in a place where we ultimately settle our differences at the ballot box.

And happily we live in a place where fans and foes of the Obama administration have a voice, and a vote. We also have a unique chance to work together to solve the problems facing us. We saw politicians who lost elections respond with dignity, and those who won respond with humility.

There's a short window of opportunity, perhaps only a year long, maybe less, before we crank back into election mode for 2010. Hopefully 2009 can be a year of repair and restoration.

Lighten up people. Liberals, of all people, should learn to take a joke as easily as they dish it out.

I have not blamed a President for a poor economy or given him credit for a good one for a long, long time. I guess since my college econ. classes anyway.

And I think wahooskipper is right. The drop is partly due to the election. It always drops when a Dem wins. Which is cwaaaaaaaazy, especially this time since there's been a 96% chance O was going to win for a few weeks now, but there you go.

BTW ... I keep hearing this, but Obama change is clearly and brilliantly spelled out in Chapter 1 of "The Audacity of Hope." If you don't believe him for some reason, that's your business, but it's not the same as having no idea.

Well, there is the "buy on rumor, sell on reality" line of thought.

Then there is also the "Dow was on a good run last week, and people are looking to make some profit today" theory.

I know that there are quite a few people playing the game of guessing the peaks and valleys while the markets are in roller coaster mode, to get back some of their losses from the big crash.

Will Smith I could see influencing some younger voters, but I didn't think Jazzy Jeff had that much pull.
