If its not part of WDW, why stay there instead of at I drive? It will be closer, but if its not marketed as part of WDW, that could be lost on potential customers (plus I expect they will charge at least a modest premium over I Drive, which no doubt will start discounting). So the question is, will it be Disney's Motel Row, or Disney's Trailer Park Resort?

While some of it, most likely more DVC (naturally) as well as retail and another gas station will see the light of day, a lot of this won't. This plan was formulated in the 'we have to have every guest in Orlando stay on property, all the time and spend all their money' late 90s when the road was being planned. The notion that Disney will build its own t-shirt shops or Mickey Marts just isn't going to happen. There are many master plans lying in certain locales around WDW. I've seen ones for monorail and DAK expansions that WILL NOT happen. But they exist. A lot of time and money went into them. Doesn't mean a thing. Not to burst anyone's bubble. And there is no real timeline for this as of yet, either. What that road does ensure is Disney's ability to expand into western parts of its property in the future. And that will happen. And congrats to Kevin for getting the O-Sentinel to bite on the column ... nice to know Scott Powers hasn't been scared away from these 'insignificant fan sites' by Disney and his editors! Now, the ocean is calling me ...
