Amazing speech giver as well (wish he'd made a lot more! we need this sort of thing in todays world imho...).

And, he even says goodbye to all with dignity and honor as well.

(anyone NOT cry after watching those three videos? well, if so, I guess I'm just a wuss thanks to Mr. Rogers lol)

Sorry to quote K2M on this one so vehemently, but MR. ROGERS ISN'T ON TRIAL HERE! ;)

I love that clip, how he turns a politician from foe to fan in 5 minutes. What an American hero Mr. Rogers was.

    I know.

Believe me, Fred Rogers is one of the main reasons that I have shifted my beliefs recently from outright cynicism to "hey, maybe there's something here worth looking at after all, despite the hypocracy that so disturbs me". ;)

I also feel that his message dovetails very nicely into the Eckhart Tolle stuff that I really admire and try to adhere to these days (there's another video out there of Mr. Rogers talking about that sort of stuff, but I promised "last one", so I don't want to derail this topic beyond what I've already posted...but it's out there anyway).

As to morality/fairness/ethics and what is best for our country the 'Supremes', like the chief executive and national legislature, know no more nor no less than the rest of us collectively. They just happen to be in a position to change public policy.

Heck, even 50 years ago, I can look back and say without reservation "America was prejudiced to the hilt, antiquated, narcissistic, paranoid, and pretty darned evil all around considering today's way of looking at things".

I don't look at it that way since I believe that today's practices and movements will be rendered 'backward', 'despicable' or 'grossly unjust' sooner or later.

In 15 years don't be surprised if 2008 will be generally regarded as the 'dark days of old'.

And actually **overall** I think we are a sicker culture today than back in the 70's and 80's due to attacks on free thought/speech and expression coming from the control mongers like NAACP, NOW, GLAD, Christian Coalition and the Bushies. They are all philosophically dirty because they make a living on taking our living away.

I don't understand what you mean??

What I was saying is that the cast had exremely large lips even for blacks....... nothing more, nothing less. I didn't attach any morality to it---- it was just an observation.

But now that I am reflecting on the big lip thing I love it--- if only we could see cartoons like that today. And FA's lessons and songs really impressed me too.

I went to a grade school loaded with blacks--maybe 75%--- and we all talked about FA as well as Captain Caveman and JabberJaws.
