Actually, no. Disagreeing with it (such as someone saying they think homosexuality is immoral) isn't really hateful. Closed minded, maybe.

Calling them disgusting names though? That's hateful.

    And that's what you did.

Someone who is born with sex characteristics and genetics of both sexes (ie: ovaries and a penis, or another combination of both sexual organs) is called intersexed (not hemaphrodite - that word is not used anymore in medicine or psychology). People who are intersexed often have additional chromosomes so they have the genetics of both sexes.

Someone born with the sexual characteristics and chromosomes of ONE sex but feel as though they were born in the wrong body and are truly the opposite gender is transgendered. Gender is the phenotype, or how someone behaves on the outside as opposed to sex or genotype which is the genetics you were born with. Genotype, obviously, never changes while phenotype sometimes does change and does not always match genotype.

Additionally, it bothers me to see someone say that they "disagree" with people who are transgendered. It's not something that's available to "disagree" with. It just is. Do some research and look at children who are transgendered. They sometimes resort to mutilation of their own body parts and definitely go through a loathing process and they do not identify with the gender that matches their genes. It's a difficult, often painful process for families. Children go through this process long before reaching sexual maturity so it's not a sexual preference or a "choice." It just is. And referring to any human being as "IT" is callous and uncaring and speaks more about the person saying it than it does about someone who is transgendered. BTW, in the saying "calling it like it is" the "it" refers to the situation, not to another human being. It's different than referring to another human being with feelings, emotions, and pain as an "IT." Very different.

There is a clip on the website from an interview done by the director of TYFA (trans youth family advocates) regarding an 8 year-old transgendered youth in Colorado. The clip explains more about why being transgendered is not a choice any more than having a gender that matches your genetics is a choice.

I met Kim Pearson (the director of TYFA and the woman in the interview clip) and her son while completing my psychology degree at San Diego State University. They are fantastic educators and I was honored to meet them.

imadisneygal, THANK YOU a million times over for explaining things better than I ever could.

I can't tell you how offended I felt about the comments of that particular poster, but at the same time I was far too angry at the sentiment to explain things as rationally as you did.

    Thank you!

And, I as well as many others have the right to not agree with doing that and bringing a baby into the middle of all that confusion and chaos. And that is what it is, chaos.
And if anyone is "offended" here, it is me, being called a bigot by a web- bully like you.
You have your opinion, I have mine.

I called you what you are. You can call me names all you want, it doesn't change the facts, or the hatred behind them.

You're the one who is calling names here. Calling a transsexual an "it" is the same, or perhaps even worse, than calling a black person a nigger.

    You disgust me.

Try to keep up on the real issue, if you are able to. And you disgust me too. Calling someone names who you know nothing about. Shows that you are not only immature, but, ignorrant as well. And, yes, I AM proud of myself. I do a lot of good in this world (unlike you).
Hopefully, you will find a small purpose in life and stop being an angry little boy.

You are truly laughable ! You are one of these people who talk out of both sides of your mouth. You call names, but act like you are concerned with name calling by others.

And here you are being just as nasty and hateful towards another group of minorities.

    How disgusting is that?

***Calling someone names who you know nothing about.***

    You mean names like "it"?

    More rantings and ravings.

And the whole time, you never ONCE even considered or discussed the idea that you might have been wrong or prejudiced or hateful by referring to a human being as an "it".

    Amazing.

You really never even came up with a response? Nothing? Just anger towards me for pointing it out?

    Wow.

My faith in humanity has, seriously, been shattered by this very topic.

I now agree with others that the deep rooted and disgusting prejudice can never be erased, or even UNDERSTOOD, by most.

This is the day I turn from optimist, to pessimist. I'm seriously depressed, honestly.

You say this after calling a human being an "it"?

    Are you serious?

You ARE a bigot! You said so, over and over!

    And you keep defending it!

    Wow.

Stupidity and prejudice go hand in hand. Who knew?

and NO, I am not "WRONG" for my opinion. Just as I never said you were "wrong " for yours. The issue I had was your immature name calling.
    try to keep up.
