That Tink-Mobile did a lot of driving to get there and back safely. How was driving for that many hours in that few days?

the roads were very dark with very limited lighting....the sun did not come up til close to 630am...we had a nice drive into Sacramento the traffic was very light for a friday morning, then on to Stockton where we met up with some very Dear Friends Shiva .Tinkeroon..and the Clones..although tinkeroon was unable to be there physically as she was involved in some jury duty, she was there spiritually, we had a great breakfast, chatted for a few hours, then were tearfully sent on our way to the most Wonderfullest Place in the World....Disneyland....we left around
11.40 am and we arrived in Disney around 6pm...we were making great timearriving in LA around 340pm then onto the Santa Anna freeway around 440pm , it was there everything stopped, the traffic was really bad, I don't know if another freeway gets you there quicker, it was the longest stretch of tye -ups on our drive...we were patient the kids put on a movie I liked of course a driver privillege..beauty and the beast ..ha ha
we watched that as we got into harbour boulevard just as we were attempting to switch lanes...a clear lane turned into a lane not so clear , a big semi for some reason did not want to let us in, he held back again and as we tried for a second time he blasted his horn again scaring the heck out of us all, then he blasted bye us almost hitting a car in front with his trailer tilting over a bit he sped on down the freeway, we finally got over as the lanes had opened up into 5 or 6 it was sll tough getting over for last metres but we did, then after a big sigh we entered the parking lot of howard johnson's where we had an incredible 12 days of Disney, which went so darn fast...talk about westwinds...our time just blew bye, but with a few unfortunates along the way, which will never dent our enthusiasim for coming again...WE HAD A FANTASMIC TIME...meeting great people,Illantoye, Murfsmum, Beth, 999Haunts, Pirate Brittany, lots of characters........
Mr PB...,Nadia, Wes, Snowhite, Thomas Kinkade, Marge Champion, the original Snowhite, Linda Mariano, just sooo many
this was a really great trip, although we were not dreamed this time again our selves pout pout ..our daughter Jytte-Marie and husband Will were, twice in fact...one for billy's which was great,
we went with murfsmum and beth, fun fun
and one for fantasmic which was shared with by all of our new wonderful , friends...we had such a great time, sad to see it end..but we will return, didn;t meet up with eric at the photo pass but we will next time...all in all the driving is long, but if planned out well you can have a good drive. despite the traffic and the ding a lings on the road, speed does kill, they often do not realize it til it is to late..have a great day WestWind...take care from your friend the tink-mobile : ) and family : )

We have always flown to DL, mainly to save time and avoid the 6 of us being cramped up in our car for that long. I remember as a young teenager driving there with my parents doing the driving, but I have not driven there myself.

We are thinking of driving next year. It seems it would take almost 24 hours of driving so I figure one or two stays in a hotel along the way (depending what time of day we leave home). This is why I am curious about how you did it.

The next time we went in 2005 in august
we left at 7 pm and i drove thru the night arriving in grants pass at about 8 in the morning , we did have stops along the way, with a sleep break for about two hours...we then took the coast route which was nice but the red woods sure was winding, we arrived at the golden gate bridge which was cool at about 730 pm...just getting dark ..we drove over the san mateo bridge and headed to the
I 5 we stayed over at santa nella
and drove to disney the next day arriving at about 1 pm...

Last year we went at christmas time ,
just had some short breaks all along the way....but stayed over in santa nella..

We went again in march of this year...
we left here from the blaine border
at about 2pm....drove to grants pass
where i had a lil snooze....then drove to stockton.......met up with shiva and tinkeroon..then drove to disney arriving at about 4pm...

I like most of the mountain driving to be done in the day time..depends how far away you are...if we lived 3-5 hours closer, almost ll hours would be done in the day light...it took us the last time
without a stop over..26 hours.....we had about 6 hours of stop time including some traffic delays ....

Staying at a hotel is nice, the holiday inn in santa nella is wonderful...you get a real nice breakfast....yes depending on when you leave...santa nella is about 5 hours out of disney..
maybe less......we had a few extra days before starting disney so we wanted to be there to enjoy those days this time..
we will probally drive again, but if i can get a good deal on a flight ...we may fly nexttime...for sure when we go in 2009 at christmas we will see what the flying would be.....we spent about 440 in gas for both ways , including a full tank when we got home....so flying for 6 people might cost 3000...including the room...it costs us about 1500 for 12 days...so almost a 50 percent savings, if you add in the food ect for along the way add another 150 so around 1650 compared to 3000....it is good if you have two drivers, we just had one, guess who that was ha ha ha...staying over one night will leave you refreshed, try to have at least 2/3 of your driving in though, makes the last bit shorter, leaving so that you don't hit the santa anna at rush hour is so important...we left our hotel at 630...getting us in disney around 11 am...on one of our trips...hope you have a nice night, talk to you maybe tomorrow....
