His coming out during the competition would have hurt their business -- which is what they are, after all, a business -- but they didn't pressure him. I'm impressed. <<"I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing," Lambert tells the mag. "I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing.">> Amen. It shouldn't matter. But it does. IMHO, there's no obviously "right" formula in this situation for reconciling business and integrity and personal privacy. I don't think he owed it to anyone to explicitly declare "I'm gay!" before the competition ended. I think it's very cool that he's coming out now. Is Adam going to be fronting Queen? Freddie was gay. Not that that matters.

Hysterical, yes, more like the favorite cousin or friend who everyone wants to sit at their table. I thought everyone knew Adam was who he is from the start. I didn't think anyone cared but it wasn't discussed because of the teenage girl vote. Just as they stopped talking about Chris' wife, although they did always show her after he sang. I'm glad he is open about it now, it's just who he is. He's got a great future. So much better than going the Clay Aiken route.

Adam will have a very good career I believe as I thought he was the best at covering various genres...( favorite was the shot with Kiss actually) and the Smokey Robinson tune. p.s Ann - is 'The Dead' tour rolling through your way - show was here in May and was excellent ! closed with my fave Dead song - Box of Rain ( the last song they ever played in concert with Jerry - right here in Chicago ) also they played Wang Dang Doodle - a huge hit in 1966 for Koko Taylor of Chicago - and was cool to hear as she passed away 4 weeks later.

Does it really matter that Daughtry didn't win? No. He's out there making music and money anyway. Would he really have done any better if he had won? Lambert will do just fine because he's a great showman. I wish he would have kept SOMETHING in the closet though: his drug use. Yeah, I know a lot of musicians do it... but I'd rather the youth be discouraged from partaking.

I think the Davids went in just about equal. Archie was the favorite early on, true, but on the finale it really was anybody's game. It came down to that last night's performance, which Archie kinda slept through while Cook smoked. It was a well deserved win, IMO. I don't feel the same about this year's win, though - I really think Adam got robbed.
