My understanding is that the first place winner is contractually obligated to the tour and I think 2 years under the 19 Entertainment label. The other winners CAN sign if they want, but they're not obligated to.

They want to get to know them by hearing how they interpret classic songs. Plus the show rarely allows them to sing anything original - they have theme nights, and you have to pick songs off of a list.

After the show and the big summer tour, then the singers are free to do their own thing, which all of them who have recorded albums have done.

If you can not write your own material and you can not come up with your own music then get off the national stage. Fine if you want to sing at birthday parties or impress people at sports bars like Tom Cruise did in Top Gum singing "you lust that lonely feeling"

THES COMPETIORS ARE KAREOKE SINGERS who lack enough talent to create something important.

I respect lip sinkers "singing" their own original music more than these kareokee youngsters stealing from the music greats.

Anyhow, back to the Deadhead thing - can someone explain to me what a Deadhead is other than a person who enjoys the music of folks like Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, and company?

speaking of unoriginal acts around here. Why do those who disagree with a post resort to labeling the postmaker a troll?

my statements were more "trollish" than Quit Lurker's but even I have an opinion about these thieves who will stop at nothing to be famous.

If I stood up and delivered King's "I have a dream" speech using my own accents and voice would any of you respect me as a social and political leader???? I HOPE NOT!!!

If I stood up and used line for line Gerry Seinfeld's or Richard Pryer's jokes but using my own speaking patterns would anyone of you respect me as a comedian???? I HOPE NOT!!!
