It really has gotten better lately in that regard. It could be interesting to discuss world events with people that have a shared interest in Disney. But for many reasons, it seems that Disney fans have a certain level of discomfort discussing "real world" things. Most people look to Disney as an escape from those kinds of things, which is fine, and probably it makes sense that people coming to this siite are doing so for fun & community, not to delve into "heavy" stuff. Yet, I truly wish more people participated in WE. I know I'd like to know how more people here feel about various things. Fantasy and theme parks and animated entertainment are great, healthy, fun things. But there is also a real world all of us have to navigate through as well.

It's only interesting when there are a lot of us giving opinions. I think most of us are pretty respectful of opinions that are posted in a respectful way. It seems like some people want to post their opinions w/o anyone commenting on what they said. That's not how it works. If you join in and give an opinion, especially a controversial one, you must expect people will comment on it. I don't think asking simple questions is disrespectful and mocking. But there are times when the tone is really negative but we have the power to ignore those things and steer the topic to more positive discussion. I think WE would seem a lot less negative if more of us posted postive things instead of letting a handful of negative posts be the only thing that people see.

Wouldn't you all want to be present at your own funeral? I would. I don't really know or chat much with the OP, so please DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSONALLY, it's just a common event I've seen over my years at LP. The ones that really leave, well, they usually send an email to their posting friends and just stop posting. Of course we don't like it when our own posting friends are slighted, or even people we've never really spoken to, unless that person has offended us in some way. I'd be first one up to bat if anyone in my posse were offended or hut bythe writings of another poster. But over something in WE? Really now, we all know is that section is the most actively passionate place to post. I for one, choose to not go there. But I do agree with Kar2oonman, that if more people posted in WE, you'd find more people to have pleasant conversations with over more varied topics.

If one is going to get upset, better that it's about issues like war and peace, economic policy, climate change, race relations....
