A day and a half later, my younger son experienced the same reaction. Both had the chicken gumbo soup, which was very prominent in the "results". Doing some research on WebMD, I found that food poisoning can show outward signs as quickly as 6 hours after ingestion of the foodstuff and up to 2 days after ingestion. As was mentioned in previous post, typically it goes through the system "un-noticed", while in other cases, it can be rather severe. When both family members exhibited the same symptoms, I promptly contacted Disneyland to register a complaint (which is currently being worked). Please note that food borne poisoning can occur when cooked food is not kept either below 40 degrees or above 140 degrees when awaiting to be served. In place like DL, where a vast amount of food is premade (due to the constant demand), it is entirely possible to have situations like this occur when proper food handling techniques are not rigorously employed. It takes constant training and retraining to ensure that food handlers are constantly vigilant. Tough job. BTW, I am not in food handling, but a simple engineer......

I've narrowed it down (eliminating foods we all had) he had the hollandaise sauce at the Carnation cafe at Bkfst and the beef burrito at Rancho el Zocalo at dinner. It has to be one of these. i did have a tiny taste of the hollandaise sauce and I'm fine. I don't know if I should have symptoms if it is just a small taste. We've been to Disneyland plenty of times but we've never had this happen. I feel so sorry for people who have their vacation ruined by this.

It is very difficult to determine what might be the root cause of sudden and violent stomach illness but as was mentioned by "Cranium" above, it is best to try to eliminate causes to come up with potential root causes.

From WEBMD, they indicated that typically food poisoning is caused by eating foods that have either harmful organisms in them or grow on food that has been left out on a counter or outside too long before serving. The typical questionable foods can include raw meat, chicken, fish, and eggs. Additionally, these organisms can be spread to any type of food. Sometimes food poisoning happens when people do not wash their hands before they touch food. As I mentioned above, food poisoning typically is relatively mild and goes away after a few days. All you can do is wait for your body to get rid of the germ causing the illness. But some types of food poisoning may be more serious, and you may need to see a doctor.

With our situation, the onset of the illness was sudden and violent, lasting around 6.5 hours. Once over, my wife has recovered with no ill effects.

I hope to have the situation resolved with Disneyland in the next few days.

Nobody else in my group got sick, even though a couple others also had cheese pizza...

Why would she need to do that? She's already narrowed it down to either the hollandaise sauce at the Carnation cafe at Bkfst or the beef burrito at Rancho el Zocalo!

Last year age-39 was from a turkey sandwich which made me feel like I was near to halucinating each time I threw up, this was the scariest and most painful time of all. I am a huge salad fan and have had maybe 4 bacterial infections from Applebee's over 10 years. This is just a bowel event and very tolerable. Knowing the inside scoop on Applebee's led me to the culprit of 2 personal cases, evidentally the Health dept. got wind of this and found that handwashing was a factor...GROSS! This meant body fluids and feces in my salad. Cut lemons in restaurants are common culprits-cross contaminated knives and cutting surfaces.
Mayo based dressings are big culprits too-stick with a vinaigrette they are the safest and fabulous! If you get it from seafood, you'll never eat that food again.
You would be surprised to hear how bad lettuces can be...double wash them! Knowing this I still eat them like there's no tomorrow. Field workers have been blamed for a large percentage ( can't quote it) of produce contamination-poor hygiene and inadequate to non-existent facilities available.
I didn't hear a bash against DL, I think we all agree it can happen anywhere.
Just one more reason to rent a place with a full kitchen while vacationing, saves $$$ too.
Do everyone a favor, if you suspect food poisoning from an establishment, inform them of the possibility, save the rest of us ;)
So, 2 extreme cases in my 41 years. I eat out maybe once a month at best.

Twice that # had salads but only the ranch 1/2 got sick? I have had ranch that sat outside too long and had mild bowel issues.
    Just curious. Thanks!

AND, I hope it doesn't cause too much trouble for Doobie and the mods (I also wonder why one weirdo would bother to do all of these fake aliases deals just to complain about food poisoning. Does that moron really think he/she is somehow "hurting" Disney by bothering with this juvenile crap??).

    Go get a life, sock-puppet. ;)

Back to the heart of this topic...I sincerely hope those who are sick are feeling better and haven't lost out on a paycheck during this economy crisis. Food poisoning or flu...throwing up and all that goes with it is miserable!
    Healing prayers have been sent.

    Yes.

If you click on some of the names on this thread, you'll notice something funny going on (new registrations, people signing up JUST to comment on this one particular topic, etc...).

If it's not sock-puppets, it's some sort of bizarre "discredit Disney" cult or something. :p
