The oldest protestant sect is only 500 years old. Sure, there's some good stuff to be found in some protestant writings. Personally, I just find protestant theologians to leave me...hungering fore more and deeper insights. As to which party is more "Christian," I'll say this: The Republican party seems to revel in five of the seven capital sins: pride, avarice, envy, gluttony and anger. The Democrat party seems to condone lust and sloth. Additionally, while the Republicans say they are "pro-life," it is not the Catholic version of it (that every human life is sacred from conception to natural death) but a bastardized fundamentalist version (human life is sacred until it is deemed unworthy) thereof. While many Democrats are anti-religious, they do focus more on the Corporal Works of Mercy (to feed the hungry, to give drink to the thirsty, to clothe the naked, to shelter the homeless, to visit the sick, to visit the imprisoned and to bury the dead) than do the Republicans. Both have their points but both have their problems.

Gore was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to give that speech, and you would think he would be more responsible. Those comments were irresponsible and harmful to the country, most importantly soldiers in Iraq.
