The current US Disney Bear <a href="http://aimg.disneystore.com/content/ds/themes/default11/flash/s7.html?pid=400122749892" target="_blank">http://aimg.disneystore.com/co...22749892</a> Current Japan Duffy and Shellie Mae <a href="http://micechat.com/forums/tokyo-disney-resort/135609-duffy-shellie-mays-new-hello-cape-cod-costumes.html#post1055948969" target="_blank">http://micechat.com/forums/tok...55948969</a> Slightly different. Duffy fans will claim completly different. Main difference I can see is in the face. To me Duffy looks like he has a more "old school" retro plush kind of look. The Disney Bear has a more modern looking face design.

Taking this into account, it's looking more and more to me like that this is the Disney Store's attempt to clear out the Disney Bear branded merchandise in prerparation for next month's Duffy debut.
