In your opinion, of course. Who's to say that IASW, HM, and now the upcoming PotC are NOT timeless classics that don't need overlays?

If any of the Rockit effects have been sitting dormant for 12+ hours while the day show runs, they probablly have to all be checked out before guests are allowed to ride, even though they could in theory just turn on with that switch.

Yes, it is. And I find it hard to believe that an object like that (which probably cost a fortune) wasn't tested before being installed to see how much light it gave off. Sorry, but this story sounds kind of fishy.

But Circle Vision wasn't Space Mountain. I doubt if anyone cared much if the theater was closed for a couple of hours. Space Mountain is one of DLR's top attractions. Closing it in the early evening would be just crazy. >>

If you read my whole post, you see that I do not disagree with you. It isn't very fair to quote a part and attack it when the rest isn't attack worthy. I wasn't saying that a 30 minute changeover is acceptable; indeed, it would be horrible. I was merely pointing to an example of an Attraction, designed by WDI, that did require a lengthy mid-day down time. Be nice, please.

Do you know how engineering works? If they only order one thing, that is the only thing being tested.

They wouldn't know it worked until they installed it.

What's fishy is Disney haven't done much to try to make it work. Are they passing up an opportunity to advertise a new version of the ride? It is sooooo pathetic.

That's why the effect can't be randomized thoughout the day.

I wasn't attacking your comment. Not sure what gave you that impression. I was only pointing out the obvious differences in the two attraction's popularity. One is a headliner and the other is not.

Regular black only goes to 10. This black goes to 11. It's one higher.

So you mean the couldn't have put it in an empty warehouse and turned off the lights before shipping it to Disneyland? Did you see the Everest show on the Discovery Channel? They built and programmed the yeti creature in Glendale, dismantled it and then shipped it to Florida. Again, there are elements of this story that just don't make any sense.

That was pretty dang cool. I rather doubt the bit about all the hydraulics amounting to the same thrust as a 747 though. Sounds like hyperbole to me. Maybe it's the same if the 747's engines are at idle, but at full thrust? I don't think so.

Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
    Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
    Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
