That said, it's probably a wise move on their part. But there's definitely a story there, and it's not the ridiculous version that Disney Parks Blog is flogging.

And about this decision to keep Aladdin, I think it was several things 1. The downtime of the announced switchover was wrong given the crowds coming for WOC, 2. The overall response to the announced Toy Story musical was pretty negative, and 3. Aladdin is still pulling in an audience. All in all it was a perfect storm of reasons NOT to do it.

And given how pixie dust infused most of the comments are over on the Disney Blog, in general, the tone of these comments is shocking. <a href="http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2009/12/announcement-%e2%80%9ctoy-story-%e2%80%93the-musical%e2%80%9d-coming-to-disney%e2%80%99s-california-adventure-park-early-2011/" target="_blank">http://disneyparks.disney.go.c...ly-2011/</a>

They are simply putting a positive spin on this and I'm guessing that Aladdin will stick around only until a suitable replacement show has been worked out.

Because the way the park is going - It might as well be renamed Pixarland.

Broadly, there's a lot more that Disney can do well than toons, and narrowly, there are a lot more toons than just Pixar ones. Having said all of that, I really do wonder what the actual reason for the change was. It's certainly a smart way to save money, if that's what they were trying to do. It brings into question what the original motivation for the change was in the first place. Was attendance at Aladdin really falling? If so, I think a lot of that could be attributed to DCA's attendance issues in general. It would not surprise me that even if someone figured out that not every Aladdin showing is filling up, that the show is popular enough that the problem might fix itself once overall attendance rises as the 2010-2012 overhaul gets put into place.

Whenever I walk by the theatre right before they open the doors i only see maybe like 150-200 people waitng. Popular with guests...NO. The problem is DL is a very local based theme park so most people have had more then their fare share of the show by this point. In a very local based park you can't keep shows around for almost as long as DCA has been. Especially in such a huge venue that will get harder to fill as time goes on. if they want to keep it they should move it to a smaller venue.
