Granted that theater is a director's worst nightmare (being open-air and right next to the train line) but the entire show was a disaster. Not sure Eureka! A California Parade should be mentioned in the same sentence as Light Magic. Eureka! was a great parade - and shock horror - no Disney characters!

Geez.>> Count me as someone that loves Aladdin - it just seems to work. People complain occasionally about the Genie's shtick but having just seen the Villains Tonight show on the Disney Cruise Line that tries to do the same with Hades (and fails miserably) I can tell you that that stuff is hard. It fits the character and the ad-libbing makes the show highly repeatable. I used to regularly go back and check out my favorite Genie. I can appreciate that for some folks the show is a little hollow or "missing something" but I don't think that is the fault of the musical. By having Aladdin as the thieving street rat and Jasmine as the aloof insular princess you have two characters that are largely unappealing and it is difficult to empathize with them - entirely different to Belle & Beast or Ariel and Eric. The new Menken song (To Be Free) is an attempt to make Jasmine more likeable but it feels a little false. The Hyperion is an incredibly difficult space to fill - the proscenium is very high - but I think that Zambello did a great job on the direction (shame the same couldn't be said for the disastrous The Little Mermaid musical).

It was one of Disney's best IMHO. It was more like seeing the Chinese State Circus or Cirque du Soliel set to the Mulan soundtrack (Mushu was a tumbler). That was brilliant. I quite liked Aladdin. Whereas I feel all the stage shows in WDW are subpar with the possible exception of Finding Nemo (though the music and story did little for me, the puppetry was excellent). A blacklight show like Animagique at WDSP could work well too.

While the visuals are very nice, the music is very disappointing to us and comes across as being written in haste by Third graders. It's hard for us to understand how anyone could like it but, then, there are many different tastes out there. ORGOCH: Got that right! I don't see how nobody can stand ta put a dang Krispy Kreme in their foul mouth!! If this turns out to come to pass, I am hoping that we will then get a new show in the theater. While I like the Aladdin show, I wouldn't mind if they replaced it with something good. I would like to see something like a new version of One Man's Dream - something that has production numbers based around several different films rather than a show based around a single movie. I never got to see One Man's Dream in person, but, one of the best such stage shows that I remember was the stage show that accompanied Mulan when they had to show Mulan at the Alex Theater in Glendale because of work being done on the El Capitan. Loved that show.

The show is truly ghastly - syrupy sweet with poor production values. I still think that The Golden Mickeys is the best example of a vignetted revue show. It is also the only example of something getting updated regularly - they have added a Tangled scene to the version on the Disney Dream.
