And I am depressed (but not at all surprised) by the Obama campaign's first response: "Today John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero experience in foreign policy a heartbeat away from the presidency." (This may not be the exact words.)

So Obama is all about engaging in thoughtful debate, and the GOP is the party of mean spirited attack? Sounds more like the Obama campaign is just about continuing to belittle the accomplishments of capable women.

As far as McCain's age goes, bear in mind that all this was said about Ronald Reagan and Bob Dole. Reagan served out two terms. Dole is still hale and hearty. Former GOP President Gerald Ford was golfing into his 90s. And former GOP President George H. W. Bush was sky diving in his 80s.

No, I'm pleased to see that my team has the experienced one who actually will be President at the top of the ticket.

So, um, the qualifications of the Vice Presidential candidate aren't relevant to the qualifications of the Vice Presidential candidate?

I see. Lordy, how did America even survive 8 years of this party?

Nice attempt at spin! Is this really the talking point? Or did you just pull that out of the nether regions yourself?

I'll have to consult Lewis Carrol for the answer to that one.

Is that really what you meant to say?

This is awesom. I am very excited about this choice.

She is a mother of five. Her oldest sone just joined the Army and will be sent to Iraq in September.

Their youngest baby, just born in April, has down syndrome and has handled it with strength anf grace.

She has reformed unethical Alaskan politics and put the quash on the bridge to nowhere.

She is strong pro-life and has actually proven it.

Her husband works for an oil company on the North Slope and is a steel union member.

    I love this pick.

In my opinion, being a governor is better experience than being a senator. A senator's job isn't as close to the presidency as a governor. Granted, she is the governor of Alaska.

But this is just what I think.

Sounds like an entirely accurate appraisal.

Not everyone is as "pleased" and "excited" as you.

In fact, I don't understand how you CAN be...it scares the crap out of me to imagine her as Commander in Chief dealing with an off the hook Putin along with terrorist threats, North Korea building nukes again, and so on.

She has ZERO credentials to even indicate she would be up to the task whatsoever.

    That doesn't concern you, Doug?

No, of course not. You're "pleased".

Actually, it's been reported that the town is about 6,500. What part of the quote do you dispute?

And did you know that the Democrats have elected a former Yale Law student with zero experience in foreign policy as their presidential candidate? It's true.

Bon appetit! Your just desserts have arrived, GOP.
