    Pretty much, yes.

Sad to say, but we haven't seen any anger or concern from the LP right wingers, quite the opposite (with the exception of exactly ONE person who seems to be angry about everything pretty much).

Nor have we seen anything from the right wingers at large, not even a whiff of concern about this irresponsible act.

And certainly McCain cares not for his country whatsoever, he'll do whatever it takes to get elected and damn the consequences.

I'm not saying the other guys are in any way superior in terms of stupid moves (Kerry for President? Really?), but in terms of "rank and file", circle the wagons, we don't care WHAT our guys do we'll still back them up and attack the enemy side any way we can...the GOP is way ahead of that game (probably why they win more often than not, sad to say).

None so far on LP, sad to say.

(there was that one situation, but it was so beyond the pale I don't really know WHAT that guy believes..)

    That's good!
As if continuing to drill for oil is going to solve our energy troubles for the long haul.

Oh .. and nuclear energy too!
I heard McCain say he wants more nuclear fission reactors to power America.

Obviously chose to ignore the OBVIOUS dangers in that!

I get nervous every time I drive by the San Onofre nuclear power plant on the way to San Diego!

    Well ....
    I'm hopeful.

I watch the Science Channel all the time now .. and I was almost flabbergasted to see scientist have developed Fusion Reactors!

Just the way Spock said so in Star Trek IV ;-)............. "by the beginning of the fusion era, these toxic fission reactors were deemed obsolete". LOL

    It's here!
It will be about 50 years we'll start to see fission reactors power the country .. but the technology is here!

Go ahead McCain and Palin .. keep talking about Oil like it's the end-all!
You're not coming off too bright on that!!

Keep on thinking short term, and making oil companies rich! That's the Good Old American Way!

Actually, I think nuclear is pretty safe..and necessary to say the least.

    So, can't complain there.

As for "drill drill drill", well..how "in the pocket of big oil" could this party be anyway? Pretty shameless (and as we all know, short term solutions at the expense of the planet are not too smart...they know it too, they just don't care).

Anyway, I agree 100% they are short term thinkers, or at least pandering to the short term thinkers. Irresponsible, but not surprising.

uhhh .. have you seen The China Syndrome?
How about real life situations like Chernobyl, Three Mile Island. Disposing of fuel rods? Should anything happen to one, earthquake, terrorism, etc, .... you're looking at a vast area that becomes uninhabitable for THOUSANDS of years.

There are other methods to Nuclear power plants.

    Southern California has two.
That's two too many. In earthquake country!!

Thomas Friedman said today on Meet the Press that when he hears people chanting "drill, baby, drill!" he couldn't help but think of a crowd at the beginning of the PC/Apple revolution standing in a convention hall and chanting "IBM Selectric typewriters! IBM Selectric typewriters!"

"Despite significant evidence to the contrary, the McCain campaign continues to assert that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told the federal government "thanks but no thanks" to the now-famous bridge to an island in her home state."

    (snip)

"But Gov. Palin's claim comes with a serious caveat. She endorsed the multimillion dollar project during her gubernatorial race in 2006. And while she did take part in stopping the project after it became a national scandal, she did not return the federal money. She just allocated it elsewhere.

"We need to come to the defense of Southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge," Gov. Palin said in August 2006, according to the local newspaper, "and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that's so negative."

And it looks like McCain just plain lied about Obama yesterday:

"At a rally today, Sen. McCain again asserted that Sen. Obama has requested nearly a billion in earmarks. In fact, the Illinois senator requested $311 million last year, according to the Associated Press, and none this year. In comparison, Gov. Palin has requested $750 million in her two years as governor -- which the AP says is the largest per-capita request in the nation."

Yes, this again. I'm sorry if we're not showing her enough "deference" but that's how it goes if you want to be president. If you run as some pork-hating reformer, your record needs to reflect that, or it will be pointed out.

Not the point. The point is that Alaska would lead ANYTHING in per-capita. It's dropped in that article that someone with not much education would think "my, she wanted to spend so dang much" when it's not as bad as it seems.

It's NOT irrelevant. If the earmarked requests were just for people's pocketbooks, then it would be irrelevant.

It runs totally counter to her claims of being a small government fiscal conservative, as does her support, until it was politically unpopular to do so, of the famed "bridge to nowhere" project. So it is entirely relevant and appropriate to bring those items up.
