That last time I made that mistake was in 2003.

It wasn't too long ago that you were limited to burgers, pizza and chicken strips if you wanted to grab something fast. We had everything from cuban sandwiches to shrimp pasta when we there, and all of it was very good to delicious.

If you wanna save money, you buy that refillable mug - or bring one back that you've used from years past (cringe!).

Me either. I just couldn't do that and then explain to my kids why it's OK for Daddy to steal. BTW I don't park in the fire lane either.

I pretty much haven't had a full value meal at any McD's since they were $2.99 (for the cheapest options). Nowadays, I just order off the dollar menu. Usually just two McDoubles and that's it; no fries or soda.

If you are really talking about folks who are on an absolutely shoe-string budget, there's a simple solution.

    Ask for water.

In fact, I often do just that in overpriced places. Not because I can't "afford" a $3 coke per se, but because I don't wish to waste my money in that fashion (if the coke had jack daniels in it, sure I'd pay the $3, or $6 or $9 or whatever :p).

If I was really DYING to drink a cola, I'd pay it (I can't tell you the extent I've been willing to shell out for compact discs, 420 accessories, Apple computer products, bar tabs, and elaborate vacation packages over the years...because those are things I WANT, I really CARE about, and I'm willing to pay whatever I have to).

But everyone has their limits and for me it's overpriced softdrinks and to an extent, overpriced burgers as well (and even more in general, grossly overpriced, low quality foodstuffs)...I will NOT pay the typical $3-5 for a large fast food burger (burger ONLY, no meal) at McDonald's or Wendy's these days. I buy something smaller on the dollar menu or skip it entirely because I feel the cost/value ratio is completely screwed up nowadays, BUT I will happily shell out $12-15 for a burger at a decent bar and grill because I don't feel as though I'm getting ripped off as much...just my crazy take on things.

Even with the inflated prices at the WDW McDonald's it is still cheaper than a MICKEY BURGER. Our good friend dshyates called the McDonalds, and got the prices. 1/4 pounder w/cheese = $3.59, small fries = $2.39. Not only cheaper, but much tastier in my opinion, and I do believe everybody is entitled to my opinion.

I'm not positive, but I would guess that it had something to do with the contracts that McDonald's had with the parks expiring. That's why the fry location next to POTC (and the ones in DL across from Big Thunder and Haunted Mansion, along with Burger Invasion in DCA) has been replaced with a generic snack location. I believe that Restuarantasaurus also removed all the McDonald's equipment and menu items, and now serves standard Disney burgers and fries.
