Hayley, I have never really liked her, and Earth Song was a huge mistake and I liked the way Randy pointed it out, it made her come back with a fight and deliver the performance of the night (if not the season) in her second number. Unlikely to win though, and may be gone.

Scotty, what can I say, I liked him, but he does seem insincere, the kissing of the cross seemed to be pandering to his likely fan base, and he seemed to phone it in last night. I may be harsh, it just might be that at his young age, he is still maturing. Competent guy, but after last night, my support is waining.

Lauren, she is such a cutey and the only female I have liked in the competition. But last night was quite forgettable. and I found it sad that she didn't want to sing that she was evil. We all know the villains are always more interesting.

And Lady Gaga, OMG, did she look terrible or what?

I suspect it will do well. After this year's group of "everything is wonderful" judges on Idol, I think America is more willing to accept Simon's snarkiness than it would have been a year ago.

Wow, I just realized that I want Hailey to win :)

As far as the Lady Gaga - I've already seen her do that song live, so it wasn't a big deal for me to see a video of a live performance. And as for Jordin Sparks - good LORD that dancing was HIGHLY inappropriate for American Idol in my opinion.

And I think most here know I am FAR from a prude, but good golly she looked like she was having sex REPEATEDLY while "dancing."

I just listened to Steven's new single. I have been a fan for about 33 years. I was disappinted.

She's actually a great singer and stage entertainer, and I generally like her songs. I was also impressed by her mentoring on Wednesday night's show.

But the whole thing seems pitched to a younger crowd that I'm not a part of anymore.

On Steven's video - I liked it. I wonder if he's ever going to do much with Aerosmith anymore. Those guys have been doing their thing since I was in high school in the early 70's, and I think they're well and truly sick of each other. Also, Aerosmith has a specific 'sound' that is expected from an Aerosmith record, and the big monstrous rock band is something of a throwback these days. The new song seems more contemporary, and Tyler's vocals were strong. And it rocked. Unlike some older rockers like Rod Stewart, Tyler isn't ready to give it up yet, and this vid shows that he really doesn't need Aerosmith to keep his career going.

That said, it also had a whiff of David Lee Roth videos, or Mick Jagger's solo stuff. So we'll see, but I thought it was really good. I think he'll sing - with James - on the finale in a couple of weeks. More than you can say for J-Lo.

On Enrique Iglesias - he's lucky to have a career. He's always been a mediocre singer, and his songs are lightweight piffle that depend on staging and auto-tune.

On Jordin Sparks - didn't much care for her way back when, and haven't heard much of anything from her since. Still, I thought she was better last night than she ever was during her season. And yeah - she was hot. Great legs, sexy moves, and she's sounding better than I remember.

On James - Ryan said something last night about how "all four" contestants" will be returning home this week, only three of them will be riding in style. That implies that James will get the Idol treatment for his homecoming to Santa Cruz. Yet I heard on the radio this AM that SCRZ already erected a stage on the beach for a performance, but there's a controversy about whether Idol will pay for an event, since he's now officially a 'runner-up'.

I live in the bay area, and SCRZ isn't all that far away, but as of now it's an open question about what, if anything, is going to happen. Also, the weather is predicted to be HORRIBLE this weekend, with rain, wind, maybe hail, maybe snow at 3500'. I'll post more if I get any further details.

On Scotty - I'm aligning with Dabob - I think he's got a lock on it at this point. Oh well - the people I like NEVER win on this show, and this year is no exception.

Steven's track grew on me, liking it more on second listen. But I was always a bigger fan of Sammy Hagar than Diamond Dave ;-)

As for the dancing, I don't think I saw anything that inappropriate at all. I was a little disappointed.

Ditto. I said it before, but I think the new judges picked a generally very high level of talent for the top 12/13 (no real clunkers), yet didn't pick anyone with transcendent talent (with the possible exception of Casey as a jazz musician/singer... who was never gonna win Idol). I thought both Adam and Crystal were transcendent talents with that extra... SOMETHING... that transcended just having a good voice, and I rooted hard for them the last two seasons. They both lost to blander people, but that's show biz. This year, though, no one to really excite me.

Yeah.. she sounded a lot better, and for ME, I was able to pick out the biggest change (at least, to me the biggest): I did not hear her inhaling/gasping for air before EVERY SINGLE PHRASE the way she used to. The new, slimmed down (I think) version of her breathes better.

I completely agree! I wasn't too wild about the song, but her performance was smoky! She really played it like a young Jennifer Lopez, and I think she has a better voice than J Lo too!

Absolutely. I just heard a great interview (on Mark & Brian) this week. They're in the studio off and on this summer working on a new album, and will be touring in November & December. The rumors of Aerosmith's demise were greatly exaggerated, if you can believe Stephen.
