As far as GM's career, I know it's a good one. I dig his music and how much of it I've heard has to do with why I think he's got some intangible quality to his voice that matches what Freddie's had.

    Casey: He's the bomb!

Ashton: That constant use of "Hey" is really annoying. She did it last week too. I think her uppper register is better. Performance did nothing for me.

Paul: Just awful for me. Blech.

Pia: When is she going to sing a faster song? Ballad after ballad. She's got a great voice but I don't know; she's kind of Stepfordish. Maybe its just me. I'm not a fan of the Celines of the entertainment world. I don't want to dimish her talents though.

    James: Very cool. Loved it.

Haley: My mom loved it and I just don't care for her. <shoulder shrug> Thought it was boring. I can't explain why but it's uncomfortable to watch her.

Jacob: I thought it was all over the map, definitely didn't hear what the judges did. Too much screaming.

Thia: Beautiful voice. not sure she's going to go far. She's a bit boring personality wise.

Stefano: One of my favorite Stevie songs, I thought uh oh! I love the tone of his voice. So glad he made the competition. I think he's going to get better and better. I thought he was strong tonight.

    Karen: No.

Scotty: LOL - it's like he's not even real. He "brang" it.

Naima: Killed it!!! Yes, there was a bit of vocal challenge do to the dancing, we know she can sing BUT she brought the most current performance. So glad she made it in. To me, she's the total package.

What I love this year is the addition of the producers and none of the contestants are 1) corny 2) cocky. They all take the criticism well. All seem very focused and serious about bettering themselves. Idol is just off the hook good this season!

My top four tonight: Casey, James, Stefano and Naima

Bottom three: Paul, Karen & tie between Haley and Ashton

Oh, and much as I love Paul's voice, he was not good tonight. That's why I voted for him about 45 times.

I'm sure they never imagined that America would be deciding their fate based on their behavior.<

I think this is exactly correct. I thought they were both great singers, but when your fate is determined by the public you need to be at least a decent person as well. I think Clint was completely shocked that he didn't get in. Hopefully he'll learn something out of it all.

And I kinda liked Julie. But I could see how she wouldn't really appeal to the masses. She was surprisingly like Leah Michelle's character on Glee - a pretty little princess with a decent voice, but an overall bad image (and of course I think Leah could blow away just about anyone who's ever been on Idol!).

Ashton: Now, remind me of why she was saved last week???

Paul: Another disappointment. I loved him last week, but this just didn't work. I hope Labuda's votes save him this week.

Pia: She was great. She has such a strong voice, but doesn't seem to have much personality. lol at the Stepfordish comment

James: I loved that he brought it down a notch this week and still nailed it.

Haley: She sounded good, but something was missing. I just didn't hear anything special.

Jacob: Great job. He can sing!

    Thia: Beautiful voice, but boring.

    Stefano: Just okay.

Karen: Didn't care for it, but I liked her hair pulled back.

Scotty: He will definitely make it in country

Naima: I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite.

My top three were Casey, James, and Jacob

My bottom three were Paul, Ashton, and Karen

My prediction for going home tonight: Ashton

Casey: Really like him, but I like him better when he's more brainy and subtle and not just trying to power his way through.

Ashton: Had all of Diana Ross's diva attitude but without the vocal polish. She can definitely sing, but I think she's in danger.

Paul: Didn't work for me at all. I get why some people like him - he's not typical Idol fodder - but he doesn't do much for me, and tonight he just wasn't good.

Pia: As Lisann said, I'd like to see her do something other than this kind of ballad, but she certainly did it well.

James: A little pitchy in the first chorus but he nailed it by the second.

Haley: For me, the second worst of all Idol sins: unmemorable. I had to strain to remember what she sang. (Worst sin of all seems to be butchering a well-loved song that would seem to be fool-proof).

Jacob: Some pitch problems about 2/3 of the way in, but when you infuse it with that much passion, it almost becomes irrelevant. He DOES make you feel it, which elevates him above most of the others, IMO.

Thia: Would have done much better to just stick with the quietness and pathos of this classic, rather than try to jazz it up, as the judges said.

Stefano: I give him props for trying something different with this well-known song, EVEN IF I really hated the disco-ization he gave it. Blech. But at least he took the chance - and also sang it quite well.

Karen: Not her best by a longshot. I never considered her top 5 material anyway, but she needs to show us something amazing soon or she's gone.

Scotty: Solid version, but aped Garth a bit too much for me. But his reaction tells you all you need to know: he seems to have gained a good slice of the "OMG he's so cute!!" tween girl vote, AND he's got the country-fan vote in his pocket too. He may or may not win, but I'd be very surprised indeed if he didn't last a long, long time.

Naima: Didn't quite wow me as much as the judges, but still one of the better performances of the night.

My top three: Jacob, Stefano, and Naima.

Bottom three: Ashton, Karen, and either Paul or Haley.

Since they picked 13 rather than 12, and still have a set schedule for when the finals will be, it seems to me that one week they'll have to cut two rather than one. Will that be tonight? They didn't say.

Casey: This guy is a real contender. Good bash, but a little kareoke for me.

    Ashton: Poor, get her off

Paul: Hmmm, disappointing. His has been one of my favs, but disappointing tonight.

    Pia: Forgetable

James: Awesome, I loved his performance and had goose bumps!

Haley: Old fogey country, not done very well.

Jacob: Great energy, but poor performance. Felt like he belongs playing the Genie at DCA. Not an Idol.

Rest to come as we see them. so far, only one really memorable act and 2 contenders.

    I won't miss Ashton.

During Adam Lambert's song, I was thinking exactly what he said when he finished - that the 'unplugged' performance brings out the lyrics and puts them up front - along with his vocals.

I've never understood the appeal of Diddy - or whatever he's calling himself this week. No discernable talent, no stage charisma - can't sing, can't dance, can't speak effectively - why is he rich and famous again?

But I was looking for some kind of acknowlegement about the history between him and Jennifer Lopez. Instead, Ryan quickly grabbed his elbow and hustled him over to the side with the contestants. I would have preferred some stiff and awkward banter between J-Lo and Diddy instead.

I hope Karen gets the boot next week. And too bad for Haley - I've always liked the song "Blue" and thought she did a great job with a very tricky song to sing. She deserves more respect than she's getting.

I'm wondering about Casey - this is the second time this month he's been in the hospital - not just "sick" but actually in the hospital. They might have to cut him. Being a contestant is grueling both physically and emotionally. If his health isn't up to it, it may be the kinder thing to just let him go.

In that case, maybe the judges could get two 'saves' for the season instead of just the one. And about that save feature - I think it would be better to just have Ryan announce the loser, and let them sing their way out the door. Let's not have to go through the false drama every week of whether the judges will or won't keep them around. If the judges want to exercise their option, they can say so.

Idol - I sure as heck hope Casey is better in time to be back next week. If not, I sure as heck hope he comes back next season!

Love the mansion they've stored these kids in this season. Very nice!

Now, on to the show - I actually dug the MJ medley. And, that's the first time Pia has really shown personality while singing. And, lo and behold, I STILL like Haley when I don't have to see her, but when I look at her singing, I do NOT dig her. I really thougth James' voice shined on his few solos lines here, too.

Ok, so, regarding Ditty Dirty Money - is that Sean Combs? I shall soon find out.

Not digging the Ford commercial du semaine (that's of the week for those of you who don't speak French) - song is boring and the video just kind of seemed a little too High School Musical to me. meh

I wouldn't mind winning the For Focue they mentioned!

Holy moly, Amanda Seyfried needs to have her right er (or maybe both of them) pinned back. OY!

Ok, so I liked seeing the kids meet the famous folks at the movie premiere. That was fun. But, I noticed they got a private screening, so I guess they just did the red carpet with the stars. *shrug*

Ok, results... first up Jacob, Stefano, and Karen... not a shock that Karen is bottom 3.

Adam Lambert - I love me a talented gay male singer. I don't know why, but I DO. Look at the fact that Freddie Mercury is my all time favorite vocalist. The only straight man to come close to his level of talent is Malford Milligan, who I am lucky to get the chance to see at least once a week if I so desire. :) Oh, as far as Adam's song, it wasn't FABULOUS, but it was good, and I expect if I hear it enough, it'll grow on me... how can I not love a song that talks about falling into glitter? That's just plain festive! ;) Ok, and I love that he did a remix of that song to benefit the Trevor Foundation, which is the group that started the WONDERFUL "It Gets Better" campaign. :)

Next up: Lauren, Ashton and Haley... wow, Lauren looks like a full-sized version and the other two look a bit tiny... kind of like when I see James next to Ryan. Ok, what is up with the giant feather earrings everyone is wearing? And Lauren had feathers in her hair. Oy. Ok, not a big shock that Ashton and Haley joined Karen in the bottom 3.

Glad to see my beloved Paul & Casey are both safe. WOO HOO! GET BETTER, CASEY!

Up now, Ditty Dirty Money... featuring Skyler something. She has a nice voice - lo me gusta! But she needs better breath control. Ok, yep, that's Sean Combs... why can HE not sing without vocal processing the way the chick is? Anyhow, good song, but not spectacular. I definitely prefer the parts with the chicks singing. Oh, and I much prefer Jay-Z to Sean Combs. Just my $.02. And I notice he's doing "small, intimate venues" - is that because he can't sell out bigger places?

Ok, back to results...haven't seen yet, but I'm thinking Karen is safe and it's Ashton or Haley going. Ok, yep, Karen's safe. So, eeney meenie miney mo - I think Ashton will be gone since she's the performance I totally forgot. Is she doing the same song that got her kicked off? If so, EGADS, BAD IDEA! She will NOT get saved.

Nice to see Jennifer let her down easy. Yay J-Lo!

Struck me as rude that Haley was smiling while everyone else looked bummed for Ashton.

OMG, David Cook covered Simple Minds! LOVE IT! OMG, why is his voice all guttural?

Anyhow, onward and upward to next week! WOO HOO TOP 12 for my 3 favorites: Lauren, Casey, and Paul. Creeping to the top of my list as well: Naima & Scottie.

    And from examiner.com -

....Abrams, who has been battling ulcerative colitis, a condition which causes abdominal pain and cramping.

"Where is Casey Abrams? I love that guy," tweeted one Cleveland fan during the broadcast. However, Abrams was in the hospital at the time receiving a blood transfusion for the medical condition, which almost had him quitting the "American Idol" competition.

"Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better," Abrams Tweeted to fans on Thursday. "People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good."
