FABULOUS show, and the opener Ryan Star was darned good, too!

Here in England, the X Factor has pretty much killed any creativity in the music industry. the Christmas number one for 8 years has been the X Factor finalist. So thanks to Facebook, we took it back a couple of years ago and made Rage Against the Machine the Xmas No. 1 .....you, I won't do what you tell me! Take that Simon Cowell! Lol

Thia: It's so odd, she just can't seem to let go. It's just always flat. She has a gorgeous voice but she is so bland. Jacob: I was ok till the ending. I think it was his best performance so far but man it's all just too much for me. Lauren: Solid performance but another one that doesn't really seem to grind it when you need to grind it. Stefano: I think the judges were spot on but the boy can SING!!!! Haley: Ackkkkkkkkkkkk! I just can't stand to watch her. I hate the growl. Painful! Scotty: You have to give him props. The boy knows who he is and sticks with it. Randy Jackson slayed me with "he's the country Barry White." He isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Pia: Ballad - check. <sigh> See for me Celine is annnoying. So while awesome voice, does N O T H I N G for me. Paul: My mom called it; the female Macy Gray. Continues to be a big NO for me. No! No! No! Naima: Yes! She needed it. I know she's not everyone's flavor but I LOVE HER! Her vocals are not the strongest but Janet Jackson isn't really known for her pipes either but she is a performer as is Naima. James: Split reviews in our house. I wasn't as thrilled as my mom. I thought it bordered on cheesy. Maybe the song just means too much to me growing up. Tops: Casey, Naima, James and Stefano (and I wasn't exactly positive about all these) Bottom: Haley, Paul and Thia I know everyone loves Pia but she's just too boring for me. Borderline predictable.

Casey - The first half reminded me of Taylor Hicks, and not in a good way. I liked Taylor at the time, but he struggled after the show, as the blue-eyed soul market just isn't what it used to be. The second half I thought he was much better - connected to the song much more. Thia - not bad, but one of the weaker ones, and early in the show too. I predict she goes home tomorrow. Jacob - Probably his best live performance. Less is more - he pulled it back, but still FELT it. He conveys that feeling effortlessly, which several of the others struggle to do. Lauren - like Lisann said, solid but unspectacular for me. Stefano - I also think the judges nailed it. Technically he's impeccable. But he needs to connect with the song and thus with the audience more. Haley - didn't like her as well as the judges did. The growl is fine, but I thought she suffered from the same thing Stefano did. She was showing off her vocal chops rather than feeling the lyric. Scotty - his weakest for me. It started and finished okay, but the middle was too one-note and boring. He's already got a strong fan base and can weather a weak performance, though. Pia - Yeah, another ballad, but I give her props for taking a TOUGH ballad and doing, I thought, quite a good job with it. I was almost surprised how much I liked it. Paul - I'm just not that impressed with this guy. He's this year's Jason Castro for me - he's got his niche and the judges love him, but he just doesn't do it for me. Naima - well done! That's SUCH a classic song, that it's a risk to take it on and possibly mess it up. It's also not nearly as showy/rangy a song as most, so you have to imbue it with that SOMETHING, and she did. James - Solid, I thought. He'll be around a while. Top: Jacob, Naima, Pia Bottom: Thia, Paul, Scotty, but the latter two (certainly Scotty) are in no danger. Thia is.

LOL Everything about Pia is spot on - her voice, her look, her attitude but she is just snoozeville for me. She has an amazing voice but I doubt I'll ever buy a single thing she does, just like Celine. Movie soundtracks and Disney. Have a great career Pia. ;>

Lauren-good not great but she won't be going home soon. I was watching to see if that dress was going to trip her up while she moved around. Stefano-liked him better last week but nothing to complain about this week Haley- I held my breath as she awkwardly got herself down those stairs! What was she thinking? My mind was stuck on those shoes. Scotty-sorry, gag, just don't don't get it. When I hear his deep register I think of "E L O" in the Mighty Wind" Maybe I should listen with my eyes closed. His mugging drives me nuts. Pia-didn't recognize the song. Didn't hate her performance but didn't love it. Paul-I always like the quirky ones (except for Taylor Hicks) I like him and liked this performance with the guitar. Naima-I loved the performance but her voice isn't as strong as some of the others. I was hoping that her hip huggers had some tape on them. James-liked him very much. A rocker for sure. Now that I think about it, all of the contestants seem to have their niche and are so different. It's going to be a hard call. I think Thia will go home tonight.

Originally Posted By gadzuux Casey - fun without actually being 'good'. Thia - better than before, but not good enough. In jeopardy tonight. Jacob - didn't love it - don't love him. A bit more controlled than in the past, but he doesn't hit the notes square on, and embellishes his songs way too much. Lauren - seems to be an internet favorite, but for me she's just so-so, an "also-ran". Still, she may win this thing yet. Stefano - hated it. Bad song choice for one - drippy treakly Lionel Richie song - and I've been complaining that he's "faking it" since day one. I liked him last week, and he's got an undeniably powerful voice, but he's insincere and I can't get around that. Haley - weak outing. I'm surprised at the judges pumping her up - I don't see Janis Joplin in her at all. I really liked her two weeks ago when she sang 'Blue', but it's been downhill ever since. Most likely to go home tonight. Scotty - good at what he does, but it's a very narrow range and not the kind of thing that I enjoy. And he reminds me of Alfred E Neuman - what, me worry? Pia - used to be one of my favorites, but she's turning into a one trick pony, power ballads where she can hit and sustain big notes. That's not enough. Paul - still reminds me of a muppet. And I don't particularly care for the way he mugs at the camera - he's too conscious of his own cuteness and plays into it too much for my tastes. Naima - better than she's been, thought she could have skipped the frantic dancing. It took away some of her dignity. Still, I liked it. James - best of show. I still think he's out of his natural element, and would be better fronting a band, but amazing vocals and true charm. Top three - James, Naima, and Scotty's a distant third. Bottom three - Thia, Haley, Jacob. I hope Haley gets through for at least one more week, so I'll be happy to see either Jacob or Thia ousted tonight.

Better than I thought he'd do, but not as good as I think he's capable of. As for my bottom three: Haley, Thia, and Stefano. Stefano purely for song choice. Hated it. Most likely to go home: Haley or Thia. Who I most hope goes home: Haley.
