It made me laugh.

I'll never forget the look on Jasmine's face when it was announced that LaToya was going home, and the crowd was shocked, and she had this sheepish little girl look, kinda like "oh-oh, what have I done?" I was picking LaToya to win it all, but all those votes from Hawaii put Jasmine over the top for that week. Fortunately, the next week America figgered it out and booted her, leaving Diana DeGarmo and Fantasia Barino to battle out the finale.

I don't remember who came in 5th and 6th, but obviously they were no Jennifer Hudson (or LaToya, who I also liked a lot). AI hadn't quite reached juggernaut proportions where every tween girl in America with a cell phone was voting 20 zillion times every Tuesday. Once that kicked in, we started seeing the headscratching (but cute! And perfect hair!) guys lasting way too long and unbelievable talents like Melinda lasting quite some time based on talent (and older viewers??) but not able to withstand that tween assault.

I can't remember now, but I think all three were in the final 4, if not the final 5 and then Taylor Hicks wins. grr Daughtry was the best that season (and my top draft pick)and he came in fourth.

It's funny how different people like different contestants though. I wouldn't have though Melinda Doolittle was the most gifted singer they ever had. She was good, though. My top two I guess are probably weird for other people, though. I guess it's all in personal tastes. My favorites EVER (all seasons) were: Elliot Yamin (Moody's Mood For Love was my favorite all-time performance on the show) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...GcNJ3Ijk (He is a little goofy lookin', but that boy can sing!) and Chris Daughtry. Next would probably be Carrie Underwood.
