How many of those people did you see at the end of the show singing other songs - like many of the ones ripped in Minneapolis sining Prince in closing clips...... Does anyone ever get 'hurt' by comments there, I am sure they do, no different than if they made a recording of their horrid singing and brought it to a record company. But most of the ones getting ripped the most I truly believe came there expecting just that and seeing if they could parlay that into some $ somewhere - i.e. Tonight show / Letterman - heck Rosie feels so bad, maybe she'll have them on the View.

But did the judges specifically mock him or did they just tell him it wasn't going to happen? Regardless, they put an awkward, chubby kid on TV for us to laugh at while he sings. Again, if you know what you're getting into (and anyone who has watched five minutes of Idol knows *exactly* what they're getting into) then I have a hard time feeling bad for you. But did this kid really know? It certainly changes my tune (no pun intended).

A lot of folks seem to think that's it more than singing that they can get by doing a dance or something. I also think that personally if I was crazy enough to think I could cary a tune I would treat the audition like any job interview. Dress appropriately. Look nice, comb your hair & put on a nice shirt and pants. Keep to the subject of what people are asking you. When they tell you to stop singing do so and listen to what they are saying. I really think Simon is mean, but he does give some good advice to people he thinks are good, even if doesn't seem like it. American Idol is supposed to be about undiscovered talent.. not who can sing the the National Anthem.. you need a better repertoire than that. I think that was sort of kindly explained to the one guy but to just laugh at someone (when they sing the national anthem better than I ever could) is wrong. I think that was the 'chubby' fellow. The other guy "the lemur fellow" he actually reminded me of Steve Buschemi but he's a character actor (think Fargo and uh.. what was that Armegeddon flick?) He's a good actor that Steve Buschemi, I really do like him! I don't know if he can sing, but he can act. sigh.. oh well. They should at least wait til the person leaves the room & do better editing. I would never have thought "LEMUR!" That's just me. You know the acting biz is a LOT worse than anything Simon can say to them.

The reactions of some of them... they couldn't ALL be that good of actors. It's certainly not that easy for a non-actor to cry on cue, for instance. Bottom line for me: if there are ANY of those people who are set up, encouraged to believe they are good by the initial judges, and then sent in and filmed specifically to be laughed at for our amusement, that's not cool.

A weakness I guess. LOL

I might have laughed harder than I have ever laughed before in my life when the contestant (Number one idol fan) said, "American Idol and me are like BFF." I could not believe she REALLY said that. I feel bad that they let her through to Randy/Paula/Simon knowing that she was terrible. (But then again, like Paula said, she gets to make an appearance on her favorite show.) I think (maybe) that they put that footage (Simon saying the kid looked like a bushbaby) on screen on purpose just to get a reaction out of people and get people talking about the show. (Just a random thought.) Didn't they have a similar couple of "friends" who met while waiting to audition last season? This whole segment was oddly familiar. I seem to recall that neither one of them passed then either. I hope they don't make a habit of doing this each season. I am with y'all who don't think they should pass people through just to make fun of and crush them in the final audition. The people who are bad on purpose should not be allowed the satisfaction of getting through and the people who think they are good but are not should not be led on like this. I also don't like how they made such a huge emphasis on making fun of people who do not look perfect and people who live with a mental disablity. Some of the people they kept showing just to make their point that too many "ugly people" showed up in Seattle were not even shown talking or singing at any point during the show. Sorry for writing a NO-VEL.

Maybe he is not a COMPLETELY different person than he portrayed, but I definately think he was acting.
