The only good thing was the old guy.

Olivia newton john looked like she'd rather be anyplace else. They don't really need any extra help in deciding on these nutcases, and it doesn't appear to be adding anything to the program.

I didn't watch much, but I figured she was there to promote the "you're the one that we want" show. So why not just have her be a guest judge on THAT show?

Agreed. I enjoy the lousy singers just as much as the next guy, but this season, and this episode in particular, has overdone it. They spend several minutes on some oddballs and then show glimpses of the good singers. I get that weirdos go on Idol, and part of the show is seeing them. But do we really need to see them arrive, be interviewed by Ryan, go into the audition, spend 10 minutes before they actually leave the audition, the exit interview, then shots of them leaving the building, then more outtakes?

I agree totally here, still nice looking after all these years -- and I thought Jewel was a quality celebrity as far as comments on the music.

Yeah, I lost ALL sympathy I had for that stupid little girl when she mentioned her Daddy shot himself after shooting her mother. If I was taking care of someone who failed when attempting a murder-suicide, I would NOT admit to it on national tv. Good grief!

I think previously (and now I can't find the post in particular with out going back) but someone had asked about the guy I think. Anyway. I know the AARP thing was a joke. ;P

Is it just me or are the people that actually win Idol not really seen much.. I mean Rueban beat whatshisname and yet you don't see him all that much. Also this last season all you see is the 2nd place winner.. she's everywhere and all the first place winner gets is a car commercial to sing in?? whats the deal? (I'm not good with names as you can tell).

I think that Jimmy Kimmel is also helping those 2 guys a lot giving them some interview stuff to do.. they were at the Super Bowl "media day" doing hokey interviews and such.. I think they got their 15+ min. out of the gig and are pretty ok with their entire experience (or so it seems IMHO). =)

That would be Katherins McPhee (2) and Taylor Hicks (1). Actually, Kat emerged only recently with her first album, so there's all this publicity rolling around. Taylor's album came out before Christmas; perhaps you missed it in the madness of the holidays. We bought it.
