Anyway it's been fun to talk about :)

It's nice to be thought of! I just put up a photo update, and finally plan to get my AK 10th pics up tomorrow (I have been at Disney a LOT the past couple of weeks).

Thanks. :) I don't usually get into more controversial threads. I was happy though to see TDLFan at the AK 10th (I've not seen him since December), and also finally met Doobie and Rebekah.

Trippy - you hit the nail on the head and why I have not had time to post onhere much lately. Been taking part in more masive layoffs ( spread out enough to fly under the radar - more off shoring )

I also believe it is why some here cling to " all is well " as a mantra because they in their heart of hearts really want it to be so, and others maybe see a lot more flaws and want back the WDW they once knew. whether that is real or not, or the past is viewed thru rose colored glasses is insignifcant to the reaaons why the emotional responses are heightened.

The economy is in the crapper and most people here will have been affected, some more than others. We all know people who are suffering, and each day seems to bring more bad news. WDW is an escape for so many from the world of recession. It is hope, and some are able to see nothing but good, and others go there hoping to be able to escape, and if the inability to eat at a favorite restaurant due to DDP, or FP ticking them off, or a ride in disrepair returns them to reality, it can make someone ticked off. We all pay a lot of very hard earned money, and money these days that likely belongs being spent on necessities ( yes I know we can all likely make an argument about Disney being a necessity ) -or being put away for retiremtn because ones SOB company has removed pension plans, or ceased medical coverage or various other reasons. I don't see someone 'demanding' a magical/royal experience as each trip becomes even more of a sacrifice as out of line, nor do I think people should be chastised for that opinion. Having just invested even more $$ into DVC, I want Disney to be what is always has been for an awful long time yet, for my children and grandchildren. If people who see issues can not talk about them here, then where. I wasn't aware this was a positive only Disney site.

Now few people if any love DIsney more than me , but most here love it equally as well. That shouldn't be a recipe for never pointing out isses, or voicing opinions. I love my wife of soon to be 30 years also, but we are together because we have always voicd our opinions to each other.

For years I have watched and listened to people who were critical of American companies - and their declining products and were criticized as being something less than Americans. Always see the good in those companies, the US goes as GM goes etc. Well take alook at where that got us, of the 3 large US automakers - look closely as likely at least one will not exist in 5 more years ( if that) - and none may regain the world status they once enjoyed. Maybe if they would have listened to their critics a little in the 70's and 80's - we wouldn't be where we are today. Now even if they build a god product, a lot of perception is that it is crap. Perception becomes reality.

Just my opinion as I watch some very smart posters here line up on different sides of what should be a non-argument.

Yes, this is a long post but I had to read 300 today to get back to current ( including a few by one who needs to really seek help ) -

So long story short, I understand the everything is basically hunky dory as well as the we really need to fix some things posters - and believe both have some valid points. Neither is 100% correct, but it seems in our polarized red - blue world there has to be a winner and a loser, and the loser is always bad. W/E thread thought process has crept into the general Disney thread, and by infringing on our hopes and dreams is distrubing - just we all react differently to that.

Well I'm back to my 16 hour a day , 7 day a week life cycle right now...hope to be able to post more soon - and it's been almost 12 months since my last visit and my next one not even planned yet - so very cranky ;-(

It's Disney. It would be a "virtual ride, thus the need for a FP. In case you're not sure, attractions at Disney are not real, unless you believe that you really go to Mars on Mission Space or that you are really hang gliding over California on Soarin'. Hope this clears everything up for you and ends the subject.

Looking forward to Spirit a week today!!!

So how did that work out for you?

Bet you didn't anticipate running like a paranoid Imagineer from criticism through Heathrow, did ya? ;-)

Welcome back Spirit. Did Dave show you some of that Limey hospitality?

As to the airport fiasco, I can honestly say that I don't know what I would have done if Dave hadn't of been there to run between terminals (literally) with me as the good folks at Continental and Virgin Atlantic couldn't decide whose flight I was on ... so they just showed remarkable customer service by causing me to miss BOTH flights.

But, hey, all wasn't lost as I got to spend the night in Newark and that's gotta be worth something!

But I digress, Dave was indeed a great host and sat with me at an airport bar for many hours after the fiasco where we got to compare notes on Disney, politics and life in the UK vs. the US.

It was a great visit all things considered, but I'm hoping for a less stressful meeting at DLP this winter.

As to the thread reaching 600 posts, I'm sure it will. People just love me (and TDLFAN too!). Can't get enough. I'm that guilty online pleasure that you hide from the wife when she walks in and thinks you're looking at porn (ya know, something functional).

So after 2 1/2 weeks across the Pond, what have I missed? Anything big? Disney announce a DVC Tower for the Contemporary or something? A boutique animal park experience perhaps? People realize the 'big' new ride in O-Town this summer is at Universal and not at The Park Formerly Known as the Disney-MGM Studios? What about food prices? Have they gone up in the month since I was at WDW? Has Phil Holmes decided to start the Halloween Parties in July yet?

C'mon, I must have missed something!

I consider my sabbatical over. So, I am back (just think how many trolls are getting the bait out!).

But I have a lot on my plate right now, some of which we talked about, so I may post for a bit and then disappear for a week or two.

It does seem that 2008 has been very, very slow for news with Disney.

I can't help but think that beancounters at TWDC are forcing things to be delayed/held back (DCA plans anyone?)as they wait to see whether our economy is about to head over the cliff. I sadly think it will ... George Bush's gift that will keep on giving long after he's back on the ranch.

I just get a lot of 2011 ... 2012 ... 2014 talk when I ask people about many of the gandiose attractions/plans I've heard of. Well, that's a very long time out. And take a look at all the construction/prep work that isn't happening in any of the resorts right now.

But don't fret ... we have Magical Celebrations to look forward to (please excuse me while I go vomit!)

Thank goodness, now my evenings will be getting interesting again. Nothing against the other LP posters, but I've missed the "stirrer of the pot"

Could this all be a remake of the infamous 'Disney Decade' that never was?
