On DVC sales and real estate development. From an operational profit perspective, the results are only marginal right now and the outlook going forward is uncertain based on macroeconomic trends alone.

He didn't. He bought it for something that was never built.

I started out in the theme perk industry by accident. I was a student at an audio school in Richmond and got a gig mixing the audio track for Kings Dominion's Smurf Mountain train ride. It was an insipid tune that looped repeated throughout the ride. That lead to an audio engineering job in the park.
Later when in school at Full Sail in Winter Park Florida I worked freelance in attraction construction and themeing at both Disney and Universal. Mostly airbrush painting on the Tower of Terror and exterior retouching at Universal. Then through school I got a gig as assistent audio designer for a TV show called "The Newz" that was in pre-production on the backlot of MGM. Hulk Hogan's Thunder in Paradise was in production in the office next to ours. When we went into production we moved up to Universal because they had a soundstage large enough for the set and the live audience.
In '95 we moved to Colorado and I entered TV full time. In 03 I moved back to WV and am now shooting news.
I should also add for this conversation that I taught skiing at Snowshoe and was on the ski patrol at Winterplace ski resorts in the late 80s-early 90s.
After we moved to Colorado I have only enjoyed theme parks and Ski Resorts as a casual tourist.
To be honest I like to ski but I don't like being cold, so I haven't been the last couple years. And I'm sitting here .6 of a mile from a ski resort and its dumping.
Sorry to go on, but you did ask about one of my favorite subjects. Me.
Go ahead and say that that hardl;y qualifies me to judge the decisions of the experts. Your right. Thats why I'm discussing it with you on an internet message board and not a Disney board room with someone important.

OK lets get back on topic. So now Cheesecake factory and Bubba Gump are open. Anything else yet?
And has anyone eaten at a Roy's of Hawaii? What's that all about?
And where is the progress on construction of the hotels.
I really need a Darkbeer photo update to keep me focused.

    And speaking of Cheesecake Factory!....

I have a small GardenWalk update, as I did notice Disney installed a HUGE electric sign at the CM lot across the street that says "HAVE YOUR ID AND HANG TAG READY". There were multiple Disney Security CM's checking the cars as they drove in too.

So that tells me that Disney is concerned about GardenWalk customers (and maybe employees) parking for free in the CM lot across Katella. When GardenWalk gets hopping by next summer, parking will probably be tougher there than it is at Downtown Disney on date nights. Yikes!

Me? no, never, ok well a couple times.....a week.
Yes Shockoe Bottom and Slip are still the party area. I saw moe. at Toad's place in Oct.
They atually have a AGW type mall now out in Short Pump. With The Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano's Which I guess goes to prove everyones point that if Short Pump, Va. has one of these it is the definition of NOT unique.

This is a concern for me: that WDW is currently running on an unsustainable business model. They can sell only so many timeshares and rent out so many hotel rooms. Eventually the parks will have to carry their own weight, and if they can't, what will happen?

right behind the catsle inn is another motel. Garden walk borders that motel.

So all you have to do is walk a few yards south on Harbor then turn left and Garden walk start 1/2 way down the block.

For those that didn't read Al Lutz's report on that several months ago, he basically said that two hotels would be built at GardenWalk by a separate company and they would both then be operated by Disney once they were built. Al Lutz said this would be the first foray into off-property hotel operation for Disney, and the financial deal that gets the two hotels built by a separate company is also a new twist for Disney.

This news plays right into the scenario Al Lutz laid out months ago, and the no comment response from TDA seals the deal.

So two new hotels are coming to GardenWalk, to be staffed and operated by Disney and branded as some sort of new Disney hotel property. Exciting! Good news for Anaheim, for Disneyland Resort, and for GardenWalk!
