I too would like to try a Disney hotel but an not willing to pay the price and don't want to search and ask and look for angle to get the best deal.

How do places keep their AAA rating? Are there inspections or is it just based on complaints? The Good Neighbor designation is a marketing angle that implies a certain standard but perhaps the standard is not monitored.

oh ya, I wish I lived 6 hours (or less) away from Disneyland - we are more like 24 driving hours away.

The AAA ratings are a puzzle to me too. I don't know how it is controlled. I don't know what to reccommend for a room, but try tripadvisor for comments on recent stays. That is somewhat helpful in determining a decent room.

The bathroom was white grout which, no matter how clean it is - it still looks dirty. The tub had an actual hole on the bottom corner. The mattress was very old (wasn't lumpy - we slept well) and the sheets were very clean. The pool needs to be repainted. It did rain the last day and our adjoining room leaked.

There are some good things though. The service was very friendly and good. The grounds are just stunning -a lot of palm trees and even though you are 10 minute walk away from Disney, I could feel myself relax as I walked the grounds to my room. There was no noise from the street.

I'll probably try a different hotel next time but in a pinch I'd stay there again. I have definitely stayed in worse hotels.

    Just a thought.
