Since you have to start from a bogus premise, that my term refers to LP posters and not to a general political movement, the logic of your entire argument utterly falls apart.

I might as well say that everytime I see an attack on the President in this forum, I should call that a "personal attack" on myself and every other person who supports the President, but I at least have enough common sense to avoid that kind of silliness and just stand up forcibly as I can for my own POV in an open forum. I'll leave the personal attack mode to those who actually engage in it when they attack me on the basis of impugning how I perform in my professional vocation (as one person in this thread has done) or who throw out terms like "troll" at me.

Just like on an discussion board, sometimes it's hard to tell what is meant as a joke or just plain meanness.

I just get anger whenever I hear or see Ann.

What part of "you lefties" was not about the people here? If you weren't speaking about people here, then you would not have said it like that.

"everytime I see an attack on the President in this forum"

And yet, I see attacks from certain people against Bill Clinton, also the President. Are you now saying that it was and is wrong to attack him?

This is exactly what's wrong with discourse today. So many of us here, no matter what our political position, can call vile comments like Coulter's the vile comments they are, and can do the same with an equivalent comment from the left. Wahooskipper had this exactly right.

But the above paragraph indicates someone who sees their side as above reproach or who will make all manner of excuses for someone from "their team" even when they say something vile - while seeing the other guys as intrinsically bad, rather than just people who have different viewpoints.

It's the sort of simple-minded "my side GOOD; your side BAD" malarky that has damaged discourse in this country so badly.

<Actually mele, it could occur to you that the reason why I call remarks blaming the President more than the terrorists for 9/11 despicable, is because they happen to be despicable. ;)>

Great. And those of us - including conservatives here - who are calling Coulter's remarks despicable is because they happen to be despicable. You seem too blinded by ideology to ever admit to this. Forget what the other guys do, forget the merits or demerits of the 9/11 widows; when Coulter said they enjoyed their husbands' deaths, that was despicable. As I posted on another thread, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) called her words "disgraceful" and "beyond all limits of decency."

You'd be taken a lot more seriously and not dismissed as a mere ideologue if you could at least say that much.

Ann wouldn't even have had to say anything about that particular gang if they hadn't been using their victimhood status to try and impact national policy in the war on terror, even to the point of having a major role in influencing certain aspects of the 9/11 Commission. I regard what those people did as far more vile ultimately when it comes to the war on terror, and if you want to be critical of me for supporting Ann on that point, fine, but I'm still sticking to my POV because that's how I feel as a matter of principle.

Her words are shameful. Their husbands were murdered in a horrible fashion that was a national tragedy, and she made a vicious and catty remark about it.

But, her book is selling very well, so she has managed to very well by herself, which is probably the only thing she's really interested in.
