There is a lawn back there now - that's the one you're going to have to mow.

I limit tv and Playstation times to my eldest (Kieran) too, he keeps telling me his friends can go on for as long as they want, bully for them!

Connor watches Tv, but is much happier looking at books or playing.

My kids aren't obsessed with it. We're all usually doing other things at night. They enjoy news shows and history channel more than anything else.

As for commercials, they are what they are. My kids are smart enough and their BS detector is smart enough to know when a commercial is deceiving. We live in an economy that is advertising-driven. Nothing wrong with that. As we go along, we all have brands that we favor for one reason or another.

As always, there's no one correct way to parent.

Sure, I loved foopin' down to watch my cartoons like He-Man and ThunderCats and such, but we also loved watching a lot of the educational *and* entertaining shows on PBS, of our own accord. But I loved going outside to play too, and never felt that I "receded" to TV instead. I just feel I had the best of both worlds. :) (other kids not around to play notwithstanding, lol)

Actually with Dad out in the fields and Mom at Fort Knox it's probably good that at home alone we liked to watch TV whenever, lol---the only times we weren't allowed to was if we slacked on our share of the housework.

I remember being furiously annoyed when he would call me that, but of course I couldn't do anything because he was this big giant man whom I was subject to.

Now, thankfully, "Foopley" has run its course and it's just an amusing memory.

Thanks for sharing, Tom. She is adorable.

<< I'm not going to cheapen the magic of storytelling and learning for her by letting her use the TV as a babysitter. >>

I love the way you put that and I totally agree. But as part of the MaxHeadRoom generation, I have to admit that now that my kids are older I let them watch tv as a treat.

    And LOL @ post #2
