Originally Posted By murfsmom thanks for the compliments shiva, it would have been easier if i lied about my age, my mom remarried when i was about 8, and they changed my last name, so all through school i went by curran, so we get the papers and fill them out and hand them back and the lady says, excuse me, your last name is not the same as the birth cert, , well i never looked at my birth cert, so i'm standing there in tears saying but my last name since i was 8 has been curran, , so like a little kid i call my mom and ask her why is the name different ? she said " oh, we never got around to changing it in the courts !!good one mom !! and you couldn't have told me this before i went to the couthouse because ??????????? so i walk back in the office, she gives me another forum, right away i fill out curran again, by now the lady is not acting like a lady at all. she hands me about 5 forms and says" here,maybe you can get one right " i just smiled and said, well thank you for being so kind and understanding not to mention helpful with me, since it was really stupid of me and childish of me to be upset over such a minor thing like finding out you were never ADOPTED after all those years !!!!!!!!!!!!! i really almost let her have it, but since i had just turned 17 and was supposed to be mature enough to get married, and didn't want to stoop to her level !! but it all worked out, nothing in life is easy, right ? you and mrs shiva should be very proud of how long you've been together. when people ask me " how do you manage to stay married for so long "? and i say, because i'm not about to break in another one !!! LOL
