You really think someone aspires to be a famous online personality....who talks about The Walt Disney Company? Really? Is that something you aspire to be?

(ie: "There is no more scientific debate over the man made causes of Global Warming.") It is also amusing that you will use exactly the same logic and reasoning to "prove" your opinions, yet dismiss it when others do. (ie: Those who say DCA is a failure are presumptuous fools, but everyone should believe you when you say EDL was within a hair whiskers of being shut down. Your "proof:" "Well, I had this friend, see, who told me all about it." But what was your friend THINKING when he supposedly told you that? Huh? Can you provide me any links to what he said? See how pointless and demeaning that kind of response is? Kind of like telling people to go read a book, that is, if they know what one is.) I won't even entertain the notion of psychanalyzing the various personalities at play here. Me, I think that Al Lutz is a divisive figure who regularly provides wrong headed "information" to credulous people who then go out and repeat it. Not saying that everyone who reads his site falls into that camp. But there are enough that it is ultimately counter-productive, and fosters the notion that internet sources are all suspect. Frankly, I resent that, but not the man himself.

You either bash Al Lutz as a devil or you idolize him like a god. I personally think both camps should go have a tug of war like at summer camp and end the whole thing. It's really a bunch of BS. And love him or hate him (and I do neither), the man writes some interesting things. I do find it funny though that he's a more polarizing figure than say Jay Rasulo, who runs the parks ... or Bob Iger, who runs the whole damn company. Strange. But I think I'll take my Spirited butt right back outta this thread so it can continue.

"Those who say DCA is a failure are presumptuous fools, but everyone should believe you when you say EDL was within a hair whiskers of being shut down" The reason I said that is because you don't know that it was or not, and don't even use the term properly. And as I said, ACCORDING TO THE PERSON I know who was in Disney corporate at the time, they said it was. "But what was your friend THINKING when he supposedly told you that?" It doesn't matter what he was thinking. He was telling me what was actually happening. "Can you provide me any links to what he said?" Since he said it to me in private, no. Since you claim to have public proclamations by Disney, I simply asked to see them. There is a difference. "See how pointless and demeaning that kind of response is?" Not really, no, because it was a private conversation, and that means it's not available for public consumption. This is why I said "according to..." I don't find your request demeaning, just disappointing that you don't get that you were claiming public information said something, but didn't produce it while I was discussing a private discussion I had with someone that was not public. As I said at the time, I would really like to see what made you say that, because I simply want the facts of the matter. It is off-putting to me when someone says they have something when they don't. "Never mind." I don't mind you talking about me, if that's what you mean. If you're still annoyed about that argument we had, you can discuss it with me, and I'll tell you exactly why I say what I said. Which is what I just tried to do. "Al Lutz is a divisive figure who regularly provides wrong headed "information" to credulous people who then go out and repeat it. " I agree and THIS is what annoys the heck out of me.

Turns out he was correct, at least so far. It's unreasonable to expect a fanbase to not respond to such an enormous rumor, - especially when it's accompanied by a wholer raft of details and figures. >> You really think someone aspires to be a famous online personality....who talks about The Walt Disney Company? Really? << Al does. Really. Why else would he do what he does? It's time consuming, leaves him open to the torches and pitchforks, and probably doesn't pay very well. The only sensible motivation that I can see is that he enjoys his position in the spotlight - he becomes a de facto "expert" and the go-to guy for mainstream media - he's on every media rolodex out there by now. It just seems unlikely that he'd be sitting in a room wholly concocting these columns out of thin air. He obviously has solid sources within the company - exclusive sources that allow him to break these rumors ahead of everyone else. That has value, and al makes the most of it.

The reason Jay Rasulo gets off easier is because no one here knows what he does. At least we can see what Al does.

"It just seems unlikely that he'd be sitting in a room wholly concocting these columns out of thin air. He obviously has solid sources within the company" I can tell you stories about some of his "sources..." In the meantime, some people are starting to suggest that he's scanning the bulletin boards for information, and simply repeats it. I don't know if that is true or not. I would think an honest person who did not have to protect their source would credit their source. But I have no idea, and don't claim to. Maybe he does have a source or two. I know Jim Hill does, but he's still not considered very accurate.

I made the editorial comment that his detractors would have something new to pretend he didn't know about... and of course, his uber-detractor is doing exactly that.
