My friend who was sitting next to me said that her actions were justifyed, which I dont agree, she could have hurt her daughter, knocked her into the water or pushed her down so her head hit the ledege, if she could have been patient however, we got off litterarly 2 minutes after her....

FINALLY!! If you've never had a real panic attack you have no idea what it's like. It takes all rationality out of the equation, and kicks in a very ancient "fight or flight" response that's simply impossible to ignore.

I had a bad one a few years back on Space Mountain. I'm pretty claustrophobic, but it doesn't usually bother me on rides. But just before departure the CM came over and gave my lap bar a firm push down. Now, it wasn't so tight that I couldn't breathe, but it was WAY tighter than I wanted it. Before I could yell for the ride to stop I was on my way. I'm telling you, that was the longest ride of my life. If there was any way that I could have wiggled out from under the bar, I would have done it and tried to jump to safety. I was almost out cold at the end of the ride, and was barely able to recover in time to step out.

I don't mean to be overly dramatic, but a panic attack really does take a person over, and all kinds of rude behavior can result as the person is trying to resolve their conflict.

I totally agree with this, and I'm willing to give the lady the benefit of the doubt that it was something like that. But there's also the possibility she was just being rude - we don't know for SURE that she was having a panic attack. It just seems to have become certain, somewhere along the line, that she was having a panic attack and was therefore justified.

This reminds me of a few years back at Magic Mountain. My wife and I were getting onto one of the first roller coasters where you're feet hang down.

We got strapped in, and were ready to go when for some reason the lady sitting next to my wife looked over at my wife's safety latch and said, "Hmm, that doesn't look right". She reached over and gave it a test tug, and that's when the ride started.

Of course, there was nothing wrong with my wife's safety latch, but my wife was convinced she was going to fall out of the seat to her death. I thought it was one of the funnest roller coasters I have ever been on. I thought she was a little overzealous in her screaming.

I wish I wasn't so cheap back then and paid the $10-20 for the ride photo. Her look was not of someone having fun, but someone in absolute terror. I still can't get her another roller coaster of that type.

There are some good theories here - that she had to pee, that she had a panic attack. Maybe she was really fighting the urge to vomit. I think there are any number of possibilities. For example, I can't begin to describe the horror of my first miscarriage. I can't imagine what I would have done had it begun when I was stuck on a ride. I didn't look pregnant at the time either.

Cut her some slack. If she directly affected your day or your enjoyment of the ride, I'm sorry. There is a wide range of pregnancy experience and those hormones can be really make some women feel and behave terribly. I'm sure some husbands will back this up.

This does not excuse her "pushing" her daughter, but I wasn't there, and I wasn't her so I don't know what was going on.

I deal with a lot of [bad] traffic every day. I console myself by thinking that the people who cut me off must have diarrhea. It makes me laugh to myself in an evil way but also reminds me that there's nothing I can do about *them*, only myself.

If you keep your head pointed ahead of you it's not too noticable, but I tend to look around when I have the chance, and what better time to see the insides of Space Mountain?

This statement is obviously from someone who has never had a panic attack. I agree with imadisnygal, mele, danyoung. If you've ever had a panic attack, you would understand this.
I am also very claustrophobic, and if I had been stuck where she was (which sounds like in the caves), I would have panicked, and possibly had a panic attack. And yes, if I had a panic attack, there is a chance that I would have pushed past my daughters to get off. See when you are having a panic attack, you see yourself in danger. I would know my daughters were not in danger, so didn't need to get off first.

Just because the woman wasn't hyperventilating, doesn't mean she wasn't having a panic attack. It may be that all she thought to say was I'm pregnant and I need to get off.

One more thing, changes brought on by hormonal fluctuation increase anxiety, and therefore make panic attacks more likely to come on.

I have never had a panic attack that would cause me to have flawed logic like this. I am sure people do, and people can't help it. But having said that, I can't imagine myself being in danger, while I could see that my kids at my side were not in danger. That doesn't make sense to me. However, again, I have never had I guess a panic attack where ALL of logic goes out the window and I am sure that people who have, are not at all wanting to have such an attack. I'm sumpathetic to it eventhough I don't understand it, not judging the mom.
