Boxer's assertion that Rice is unqualified to appreciate the sacrifice appropriately because she doesn't have children of military age is just stupid. So what? NO ONE, even parents of 20-somethings, understands the sacrifice unless and until they actually lose a child, a brother, sister, or parent in war. And the lecturing Barbara Boxer already knows well that among those who have lost loved ones in Iraq, who understand more than anyone the sacrifice, the vast majority support what the troops are doing and their commander in chief, President Bush. (Cindy Sheehan excepted, of course.) Boxer's statement was pure emotional trickery, without an ounce of logic or integrity behind it. Incidentally, the treatment of the left towards Condoleeza Rice has been pathetic from the beginning. She has been subjected to cheap, racist and sexist abuse publicly and privately. Filthy songs about her on the radio, random and baseless insults on television ... based on many things, INCLUDING her gender and race. And I'm unable to think of one single Democrat, liberal, or what have you who has come to Rice's defense. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Rice deserves a lot worse criticism than what Senator Boxer had to deliver.

Conservatives can huff and puff about this all they want, it doesn't change that the people who got us in ths mess - Democrats and Republicans from Congress as well as the White House - have made zero sacrifice for it from their own families. It's a fair question to ask why those who are so gung-ho over this war won't go fight it, and instead pontificate from posh government offices and on blogs and message boards. Where's the patriotism? Where's the love of country conservatives have hijacked so well? I know, I know, war supporters already put the "support our troops" ribbon on their cars, what more can they possibly contribute? Talking about literally the least you can do.
