Or at least giving them the benefit of doubt until there's proof that it was anything other than the soldiers putting up a proper defense. As you said, they had very little time to decide how to react and did what they thought they had to.

The soldiers have no way of distinguishing between a car on a suicide mission and a car on a medical emergency. Prayers for the deceased and her family, regardless. Tragedy is tragedy, no matter what side you're on.
