Well, I know this is off-topic and all, but I just don't see boring theme park rides as being a symptom of a dumbed down culture (there are plenty of REAL symptoms to be found, I guess is my point).

I agree they've been killing Epcot, and again this is way off topic, but honestly the stuff you mentioned really WAS the most boring stuff, and in fact it still remains pretty much (energy was made slightly less boring, but not much).

Whatever. Anyway, back to topic, this is a horrible situation and wouldn't have happened if stricter gun controls had been implemented.

This sort of thing does put me more and more in favor of gun control, and the STRICT evaluation and monitoring of folks who wish to own them.

Sorry, but I'm against the IRA in this regard.

I think you missed the part where in 1995 they readjusted the SAT scores because people, since the 40s, have continually gotten lower and lower scores.

Of course you are not alone.

And don't worry about your trip to the US. Remember, the nearest ER trauma room is only a quick ambulance ride away.

    About Epcot:

Between Spaceship Earth, Horizons, and World of Motion, a LOT of the same ground was covered. It was a bit repetitive. It's not such a terrible thing that World of Motion is gone and replaced with Test Track. It's just not quite the full experience WOrld of Motion was. Horizons, well, that's a loss, and its replacement is out of place, but fun.

The problem is not so much that they took out these old things, but that they replaced them with something much weaker. And dumber.

Exactly. You hear the hand wringers talking about how there are more people currently in poverty in the United States than at any other time in our history. Well duh... there are more people in the United States than at any other time in our history. As our population increases, the absolute numbers of those in poverty will also increase.

But if you look at the true measure, the PERCENTAGE of people in poverty in the United States, we are close to all time lows. Although the rate has gone up slightly since King George took office, it is still lower than it has been at any point in our history except for the years 1999 - 2002.

    Absolutely.

And I'm totally with dvcdad on this:

<I agree totally and I'm a big 2nd amendment guy. I don't buy into the concept that registration is the first step to losing the 2nd amendment rights.

It should be more difficult to purchase weapons.>

Even my southern uncles and cousins (big time hunters and NRA members) and coming around to this.

And davewasbaloo, remember what I told you before: you MUST see the Remember fireworks show. It will remind you why you love DL.
