I think ability should trump age. But how difficult is the CDL testing, specifically any road testing?

Regardless, if the past reports of complaints against this man are true, no amount of testing makes this guy a professional driver worthy of respect...or a job.

Depending on who's giving the test the practical aplication part can be very difficult, and the written exams are no walk in the park either. I would imagine Disney also has an on going training program for their drives, and periodical reevaluations. I don't know that for a fact, but most large companys do.

That goes without saying. You can be the best driver in the world in a test situation, and know the rules, and regulations backwards, and forwards, and be in excellent physical, and mental shape. That does not mean you practice safety or interact well with the public.

Once again those qualities or lack there of are not determined by ones age though.

That certainly is true, obviously true, when it comes to issuing your standard run of the mill drivers license. I wonder sometimes if they even took a test for that. It certainly doesn't seem that way.

CDL drivers are held to a different set of standards. For example, we can lose our license just for tailgating? That's without any accident or even close call. And you don't have to be driving commercially at the time. Did you know that as well as physical checkups almost all bus drivers are subject to an on board driver evaluation at least once a year, or as often as felt necessary if complaints or observations warrant it? Also the system utilizes "secret" riders that look and dress and act like any other rider but are paid to evaluate the drivers and report it to management. That helps even the playing field agains those that think that complaining will get them something free. When people and safety are involved they pull out all the stops. Even a place like Disney. Liability can be crippling if things happen and no one was watching.

I'm not ruling out that the driver could very well be at fault in this, but age would have had, more than likely, very little to do with it. Stupid mistakes are made by people of all ages.

I see this routinely ignored by commercial truckers.

That good. I was wondering about that.

I see it routinely ignored by a lot of people, but what Goofyernmost stated is a fact. If you hold a CDL your job is literally on the line anytime you get behind the wheel of any type of vehicle.

Now are there bad commercial drivers, certainly.
