That would be more difficult if his name was John Whopaysforhookers. (And, of course, if the "family values" bunch weren't total hypocrites completely in the bag for the GOP no matter what.)

The word was passed, and the deed is done. It's for the best. Weiner's ability to be effective, to sponsor legislation, to rally other representatives, was all compromised. Stepping aside serves the interests the party and the country.

It doesn't excuse the behavior- but then Letterman never tried to have us do that - he admitted he was a scum jerk for what her did. Did I believe him-- amazingly yes I did. His episode (a) are now a thing of the past....Wiener however chose a different - well traveled path...somehow thinking we're all too studid to figure this out, then trying to pretend the instances were something other than they were..then the self pity rehab crapola... in the end he is without his role representing any of us-- as it should be again aside from the high school girl he was stringing along ( that one really shows something even more wrong than the other stuff)- it's the lying and denial-- or feeling that somehow he could get away with it no matter what he said that has him now on the sidelines.

Why do you have no sympathy for her? What did she ever do to deserve being enmeshed within this controversy? How can you justify this comment? Do you have this same scorn and derision for everyone?
Originally Posted By barboy2 It's easy to justify...... But she, as you indicated, is buddying up with one of 'those'. If one tours and befriends the likes of a Tom Delay, Hillary, Spitzer or Carl Rove then I can't sympathize if and and when something unpleasant goes down; it really is that simple.

By this same "logic", you have no sympathy for anyone remotely affiliated with anyone you personally don't like - their family, their employees, their dry cleaner. How is this different than republicans trying to link Rev Wright's more bombastic comments to Obama, because he was a member of the church? It's a standard 'guilt-by-association' tactic that's lazy thinking and ultimately dishonest. Don't get me wrong - you can harbor any crazy beliefs you like. But if you espouse them publicly, you can expect to be called out on them. In this case, it's crazy to denigrate the wife for the actions of the husband, because you don't like who she works for.
