But I have to say, its not like I want to know about these things. They don't effect me personally so what do I care? I don't condone their behavior but really have no interest in hearing about politician's personal lives. As long as no laws were broken really what does it matter? But because I know about Mr Weiner's activities now I can't take him seriously as a politician. I hope I am making sense here.

He wasn't doing anything illegal. It was inappropriate though, given that he's married, but other than that I don't see how goofing around with some woman he's never met on the Internet is grounds for discrediting him as an elected lawmaker.

It makes zero sense to me.

The only time I get upset about these things is when a) the person throws family values in everyone's faces and then it turns out that the person is a raging hypocrite and b) when they lie and try to make it seem like the person they were cheating with or their political enemies are the ones lying. In those cases I do not think the person has to resign, unless they did something illegal, but I do think they should be called out for the lying and/or hypocrisy and their opponents should use they lying and hypocrisy (not the cheating) against them.

And so on. --- so dead on SPP-- I couldn't agree more.... some people are willing to cut their peeps any slack - but God help us if it was someone they didn't agree with. I'm with you- I don't care if the person is my peep- you flat out lie to everyone and I close the book. Huge Cubs fan ( I know you can relate) and I was on the Sammie bandwagon when he was going well-- but the corked bat / the I'm not on seroids etc... could care less about him now agree on CLinton ( who looks real good today if he could still be in office) -it was the whole cigar deal- like he's the first there, please. But getting on TV and lying to 100Million people looking you right in the eye - sorry just wrong. He is a very bright guy, to this day I don't get why he did that and I'd love to buy him a beer one day to find out was it his thought or just some really crappy advice
