Almost everyone can renew their vehicle registration by mail/online.

Most Vehicle Registration are handled by the seller, if they are a Car Dealer. Only private transactions need to be process by the DMV in office, and there should be a way to do it online in many occasions.

Insurance Proof can be handled between the Insurance Company and the DMV via computer, and most of it is currently handled that way.

I haven't been to the DMV in almost 10 years. My license expires next year, not sure If I have to go get a new photo or if they will allow me one more renewal by mail.

So kids need to go take both a written and a driving test, as do some "new drivers".

    Photos need to be updated.

Some folks will need to take a written test every few years, based on their driving record.

But I don't see the average person going to the DMV more than once every few years.

One more thing, totally eliminate automatic increases/approvals in the budget, and require every department to justify the amount they need every year.

They are cutting our GATE program, several custodians district wide, the intervention program district wide which works with children who are behind in either math or reading and can't pass their benchmarks, but are not far enough behind to warrant resource, among other things.
Worse of all, they are laying off probably 64 teachers district wide. These are the young teachers who still like their jobs, have a passion for teaching and bring new, wonderful ideas which inspire learning.

That's now, who knows after the cuts....

I mean, a mom I was talking with this morning, who voted yes on the props, was asking why we need to have a huge, green, freshly mowed lawn around our school. Why NOT stop watering the grass, thus deleting the need to cut it. That would save some money.
If all of the schools in CA focused more on the kids' schooling and less on appearance, we could put the money we have toward the more important things.

The above link is the latest U.S. Cenus figures for California. There are roughly 27,000,000 people over the age of 18 in the state. The chart doesn't include information for those between 16-18, so add some more to the total of 27 mil. Let's say 30 million. 30 million people in the state of California really only need to go to the DMV once every 5-10 years? A population as diverse as California's with 30 million people doesn't much need the DMV except for once every 5-10 years?

    Yeah, suuurrrrrrreee......

Because it would be a neighborhood blight to have a giant dead lawn, which would affect property values in the neighborhood.

But those are the sorts of things that will probably happen.

In a perverse way, it will be interesting to see what happens. Will the private sector charge in and innovate solutions?

Is there some untapped market potential for people unable to afford health care?

Will the roads be safer with smaller government?

Will crime go up or down? What tradeoffs will we have to make if new taxes are simply off the table?

Will the state be more attractive or less attractive as services get slashed? Will businesses be more likely or less likely to set up shop here?

    Stay tuned.

Some have been wanting this for a very long time, and we're about to get it, ready or not.

If it's a trade-off, I'd rather see dead grass then the loss of great teachers.
