    Another great moment I would include is from Cinderella, the look on Lady Tremain's face when Cinderella says "I have the other slipper."
    Thanks for these great moments, I really enjoyed looking through and reading your comments!

    It was the Queen-Witch in "Snow White" that captivated me when I was small and continues to do so to this day; I used to rerun her scenes all the time when I was 9. I think it was that sequence, the most powerfully *human* depiction of evil in a Disney film, that made me truly fall in love with film as an art.

    And your choice for number one is one I emphatically agree with!
    THanks for sharing all those moments.

"Hellfire" and "Sanctuary" were two of my three favorite scenes in Hunchback (along with the Court of Miracles song and scene) and I'm so thankful that someone noticed "Hellfire" for the brilliant masterpiece that it is. Magnificent job, Kirby!

    "I Got No Strings" - Pinocchio - Just a fun sequence.

    Daffy Duck vs. Donald Duck, Dueling Pianos - Who Framed Roger Rabbit - The first legendary WB/WD pairing is not the wabbit and the mouse, but the two funniest ducks in history.

    Opening Sequence - Toy Story 2 - Not only was this a complete 180 turn from the original movie, but Buzz Lightyear gets blown to bits at the end of the sequence. I'm sure kids (and adults) everywhere sucked in a breath when that happened. Then they started laughing.

    The Tower of London Clockworks - Great Mouse Detective - The first time CGI was effectively used in a Disney Animated Film, and it looked great.

    The Cauldron Born - The Black Cauldron - The single best sequence in that movie, perhaps the one that validates the film's whole existence. Not as overwhelmingly powerful as Chernabog, but definitely creepy, especially for WD.

    "Gaston" - Beauty & the Beast - The handsome, physically gifted, square-jawed lunk is already suspect as not your typical Disney beefcake...in fact, he's pretty much repulsive when you scratch past the surface. In the beginning we get a hint of this, but this song clinches it-Disney changed their rules on this one, and the result was possibly the best male human villain in Disney history.

    P.T. Flea's Traveling Bug Circus - A Bug's Life - I'm just listing what I like on this one. Tuck and Roll, Francis, and...FLAMINNNGGGG DEATH!

    "The Oogy Boogy Man" - Nightmare Before Christmas - Great song, amazing visuals. N.B.C. has a lot of great moments, though. "Kidnap the Sandy Claws," "Making Christmas," "What's This?" and the whole delivery of the "gifts."

    Oh, well. I've yapped enough. Good list, TK.

    I'm especially glad that some of the less obvious mentions were pleasant surprises for some of you, such as "Hellfire" and "Jessica". I wanted the list to include a broad spectrum of what animated films can achieve, and by your appreciation I see that I was successful in that regard.

    Since this has proved to be so popular, I will be doing more "best of" lists in the future. I have a couple ideas in mind, but if you want to suggest any, just let me know and I will consider them. Keep your eye out for the next "Toon Talk Special"!

I love the opening when Sebastian say "strings, winds, words..." You are really rooting for Ariel right then. And the ending with the eels knocking the boat over, just before the kiss. What a disappointment.

    I chose "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" because it was the first of the "show stoppers" and heavily influenced the animated musicals that followed it. "Kiss the Girl" would certainly be included as another "show stopper", it simply was not included here because it occured in the film after "Under the Sea". Yeah, it's splitting hairs, but tough decisions had to be made.

    In consolation: "Kiss the Girl" will certainly be considered for the upcoming Disney song list.

    And if anybody is curious, I did some tallying of my list that I would like to share with you:

    There was a total of 34 films represented. Of those films, the total number representing each decade are:

    1930s = 1
    1940s = 7
    1950s = 5
    1960s = 4
    1970s = 1
    1980s = 2
    1990s = 12
    2000s = 2

    It's interesting to note the different fluxes in the animation artform, with almost all of the 70s ("Bedknobs & Broomsticks" was 1971) and most of the 80s ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was 1988)absent, whereas the 90s were certainly the rebirth of the 'golden age' of Disney animation, which was so apparent from 1937 up into the late 60s.
