From what I've read, DCA was greatly influenced by Michael Eisner, whereas DisneySea -- at least to a greater degree -- appears to have been left to the imagination and creativity of the Imagineers. Maybe if Eisner stuck to strictly financial matters and left creative issues to others, things would be different. But to be fair, the Imagineers have Epcot's Journey Into Your Imagination as their own albatross, but overall I think it would be better if the DisCo's top guy left purely creative matters to the creative types.

'Dude,' can we talk??? Back in 1976/77 the Walt Disney company presented an option to a Japanese company to BUY a "Disneyland" type park from the Disney company. (The Oriental Land Company.) The OLC put up the money, and Disney provided the name, and the services to build it. (Disney acted as contractors, in a way.) It is in the contracts that the Oriental Land Company OWNS the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. They have creative control. Actually, they have control of all it...PERIOD! The Burbank based company receives a percentage of merchandise and food sales, and royalties..which I believe come out to 10%. While the OLC has REIGNING control over what they want to do with THEIR park....because they paid for it! I don't believe Disney Co. in Burbank have any right to seize control anytime soon...and I know it's just eating them up, because it is so successful making the OLC a ton of money! To them, it must be a mistake they wish they did differently, or then, why was Disneyland Paris a project done differently where they have the majority ownership & control?! While Eisner, Pressler and the rest of their cronies keep things lean here in the US, ....way over in a little country called Japan, the Oriental Land company..like Walt....beleive that "Quality will out!"...and continue to this day to razzle dazzle the public with great Attractions like the Winnie The Pooh Attraction with it's trackless, state-of-the-art system (3 hour waits)....and in just roughly 5 months, a new park that will knock the socks off MANY people, and are going to have us, here in the states, weeping!!!!!

My column normally runs on the first Monday of each month. There will definitely be on on that date, but you never know what might happen between now and then. Marc
