Do you acknowledge that there are layers of authority in these sorts of matters? That the President might not be concerned with this sort of thing, that he might assign others to deal with it? When you equate President Obama with "going after" Arpaio, you sound like a nut. And when you claim that is the reason you wouldn't vote for him or support him, you come off as unreasonable. Can you see that?

Just sayin...

Throughout the debate she clearly demonstrated that she has difficulty thinking on her feet.> Maybe so, but I'd have to see the whole debate in context, then; all the clips seem to show is the long pause and not what preceded it. Did she have brain freeze because she lost track of her talking points, or simply because she got brain freeze like we all do sometimes? I have no idea, so I'm TRYING to be charitable here! There was more than enough from the debate (and certainly from the post-debate "you can't make me admit I lied about the decapitated heads thing and I'm taking my ball and going home now" clip) to make her look terrible.

Then go ahead and do some research and find this stuff out for yourself. Arizona citizens are being taken for a ride by corrupt politicians who want to stay in power but are too afraid that their constituents will figure out what really went wrong. They blame undocumented workers for the states' ills, and the uninformed voters like you, Donny, eat it right up without question.> Bingo. Donny, you may be a fine person, but you are coming across as uninformed on this topic. You really are swallowing what these pols are telling you without looking deeper for the real reasons for AZ's economic woes. They're creating this scapegoat to distract from their own culpability, and you're lapping it up. (And it would help if you would cop to the plagiarism you were caught at - a simple "my bad" would help your credibility a bit here.) You're also coming off uninformed about the separation of state and federal powers, and you need to research that deeper too, rather than simply accept what some websites or op-eds tell you. And it doesn't matter that they may be pervasive and you read stuff like it all the time - if 1,000 people all say the same incorrect thing, it's still incorrect.

No, you got exactly what was coming to you. You obviously don't know me too well. "Saying it to your face" is something I've been doing for a living in one form or another since 1978, and since 2001 I've been doing it for the government. It might not seem like it to some, but I actually have tempered my remarks for the most part here over the years, but more and more lately, as I have said, I just refuse to suffer fools any longer when it comes to politics, and you, Donny, are one of those people. You've bought hook, line and sinker into the fear mongering tactics of the hard right and the tea partiers. Others here have attempted to explain to you much more nicely and eloquently than I care to do. You should take the time to read them, and then decide who really is working against our country's best interests.

I do get a huge quick out of things like this. Remember a couple years ago or whenever it was, when Tom Cruise had that scary interview where he seemed off his rocker? Laughing like a crazy person, etc. Well, I remember how fun it was looking at the Youtube videos making fun of that! lol

Originally Posted By SingleParkPassholder "Must be depressing after a while working with nothing but crappy parents who don't want to support their own kids. Do you ever take them and just start shaking them to try and shake some sense into them?" It isn't all crappy parents, but certainly enough of them who won't take responsibility. Occasionally you get one whom you would like to "shake", figuratively speaking, but there are other remedies available for those types. I learned how to compartmentalize this type of stuff decades ago, so most times within a short while of dealing with certain cases I've moved on to the next one and would likely have to struggle to remember the names of the bad ones. Private attorneys I deal with on a regular basis say they could never do what we do, but then again, they do other types of family law such as custody and visitation, divorces and the like that I only did briefly in private practice and hated. There's nothing like having a mother call you at 9:06 p.m. on a weekend night saying the father is six minutes late (!) picking up the kids at their designated drop off point (often a police station or a McDonald's) and she's tired of his disrespect and abuse and she's not going to hang around and wait, etc. While often these people have valid complaints, it is more often the domain of the supremely dysfunctional. It's also a large part of why I'm convinced that when left to their own devices and decision making, enough people will make bad decisions that will eventually affect those around them. Whether it's support, custody, visitation or decisions made by big corporations, baser instincts win out far too often. The parents didn't check with our court system before they decided to make that baby, but often they'll end up before because they can't make sound decisions about parenting that child. We'd prefer they didn't and that they act like adults and figure it out, but no, they need the laws and regulations to force them to do the right thing.
