    As can Labuda :)

And my dad says Stillers! My dad says everything funny! It's a miracle I have the capacity to speak any English at all.

They are the biggest Stiller fans ever. I have a walk in closet filled with my brother's Steeler paraphernalia, lol.

In the past week I've heard from some of you, including our GLBT team members, regarding your concerns with Target's recent contributions to MN Forward, an independent expenditure committee that is supported by a broad coalition of large and small businesses throughout the state, including the Minnesota Business Partnership and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

As you know, Target has a history of supporting organizations and candidates, on both sides of the aisle, who seek to advance policies aligned with our business objectives, such as job creation and economic growth. MN Forward is focused specifically on those issues and is committed to supporting candidates from any party who will work to improve the state's job climate. However, it is also important to note that we rarely endorse all advocated positions of the organizations or candidates we support, and we do not have a political or social agenda.

In the context of this contribution, some of you have raised questions regarding our commitment to diversity, and more specifically, the GLBT community. Let me be very clear, Target's support of the GLBT community is unwavering, and inclusiveness remains a core value of our company. Some current examples of that support include:

    • Domestic Partner Benefits

    • Sponsorship of Twin Cities Pride

    • Sponsorship of Out & Equal Workplace Summit

In addition, Target's rating of 100% on the 2009 and 2010 Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index further demonstrates the reputation our company has earned.

As CEO, I consider it my responsibility to create conditions in which Target can thrive, and I promise to do so with the best interests of our guests, team, shareholders and communities in mind. I appreciate your input and understanding."

Doesn't sound like they're anti-gay rights to me. HOWEVER they could have appeased people by pulling back their donation but chose not to. Overall I think they're just greedy (like all big companies) and are acting in their best financial interest. Nothing more than that. Nobody's ability to marry another member of the same sex is effected the slightest bit by their action.

We can invent reasons to be upset or we can actually fight for our rights. I'll choose the latter.

"The Lonely Planet has named Brooklyn one of the top ten destinations in their 2007 “Blue List,” which highlights the best in worldwide travel:

The NY Daily News says that the book cites “its multiethnic character and multiplying number of trendy neighborhoods, the book lauded the borough as “the hippest part of New York City.”

I think the draw is the multicultural neighborhoods and hip independent restaurants, bars, boutique shops, that are being slowly replaced by the “mallification” of Manhattan. There are great places to visit in this world, but it’s not surprising to see Brooklyn as a destination. As the street signs says, Brooklyn is “like no other place in the world”."

(And a sign that didn't make the collection above):

    (And yes, it's real).

I disagree, and here is why:

Target, or any other company, cannot have a pass on an issue like this simply because it panders to the gay community. What has happened is that it is taking money from the community and then using the income to support politicians who are working against the civil rights of gays and lesbians. This clearly illustrates that Target isn’t genuinely charitable to the gay community at all, but rather it sees them as a demographic that can be marketed to in order to increase profits. Target can't have it both ways, therefore I fully support the boycott.

I don't think anyone ever accused them of that.

Exactly. Furthermore, it's sad to me that companies like Target think that by supporting Gay Pride events that it is making a political statement when in fact it is just using the opportunity to put its advertising in front of millions of potential customers.
