I just don't understand people's frustrations when other LPers post concerns they have about Disney in general. He didn't say he hated Disneyland or that he would never return. He didn't bait anyone to try to start an argument. The reason and content of his post was pretty well explained in the title of this thread. I don't think he expected anyone on LP to DO anything about it... but just to have a discussion about the situation. ~Beth

I Letter to Iger might be interesting. As far as the comment about tickets costing $100, don't kid yourself...that argument is what they always try to bring out. It is true that there may be some pressure on the ticket price, but as I stated, alot of the extra expense of raising wages to an attractive level is the elimination of other costs. Don't underestimate how much it costs to train, train, train all of those employees who only stay a coulple of months. As far as the argument about unskilled labor...not as good a point as you may think. DL "unskilled" labor is different. DLR employees are very much CAST MEMBERS in the genuine sense of the word. These front-line employees are just as important to creating the magical illusion as is the castle at the end of Main Street USA. You have to have quality people to produce a quality experience PERIOD. If you give the same level of care as they do at Taco Bell, you get Taco Bell level service....Think about it, do you expect a "Magical" experience at Taco Bell?? of course not, you put up with the dumb kid screwing up your order because he is what he is, a dumb kid (or other) getting paid what he is worth. I am not knocking minimum wage jobs or unskilled labor, I was once one too ! The point is that your product (DisneyLand) is more important than a $0.99 value meal item. Pay to get good people and save the product. ...besides, you could always raise the price of the annual passports to $500.00 to pay for it

A crew is only going to be as good as its supervisor in most jobs, and Disneyland is no different. Yelling and screaming at guests should only happen if they are about to do something to harm themselves or others, and as others have suggested, a few complaint letters are in order here, Mr. Snappy. Without good supervision, the level of pay is a secondary issue. That said, I would imagine working Autopia must be one of the most frustrating in the resort. Constantly trying to prevent guests from crashing into each other, on purpose or by accident, seems to me viewing from the sidelines to be an endless cycle. The cars don't behave like regular cars -- it's difficult to make the car move slowly into place, especially for kids, who have to really mash down on the gas peddle. Not to excuse the screaming and ruining the ride for your son by any means -- sounds like they need to get CMs with some basic people skills in those positions.

Yeah this area is out of control and I know it must be frustrating to work it but it is their job...

Send it to him, the corporate address is on the website, and there is a specific address to his office.

I generally share your opinion of how futile letter writing can be especially when a problem is so widespread as this. However, even if there are no consequences for this specific CM (which I would guess there would be), your letter will certainly be one more nudge towards making bigger changes at the Park. I hope your son gets over it. It's devastating when a kid first learns that adults can't all be trusted, and that the world is not as nice as they thought, and how awful for his "reality check" to happen at Disneyland of all places. Hopefully you'll have enough happy encounters there, that he'll recognize it as an isolated incident.
