By physical area, I don't see how this 'expansion' will add more space to the park than the Everest expansion (heck, all of Asia was added to the park, but in 2 phases); by attractions, it will probably tie with Dinorama (or have fewer, depending if you count the games and the 2 Primeval Whirls). Most of the space for this expansion is currently space that guests can access, and they only appear to be adding 2 attractions And it also bugs me that they're saying that Disney Parks is adding these things, rather than the specific park or WDI. I know it's supposed to be a bland corporate press release, but it just sounds dumb. If you really want to sound corporate, just call it "Walt Disney Parks and Resorts", the official name of the business unit

Is is a fiscal year thing? Is is because it isn't fully fleshed out beyond the concept art and model? Makes me wonder what would take so long to get the thing built? Having worked at Disney and Imagineering I know that concept art is just that...concept art. I have learned over the years that the best thing to do is not to get too excited because the project will certainly change (and potentially a lot) over the next 3 or so years. I am excited that Joe looks like he is the show producer for the project. I think his work at the AK has been wonderful and I think he does themeing well. I have high hopes that it will look great. Having said that...I am concerned that looks will not equal great attractions. The redo of Fantasyland comes to mind. It is beautiful to look at but short on great attractions.

I do think there's a chorus online that tends to be pretty quick and unrestrained when it comes to expressing their opinions, which tends to be that Disney sucks. It's those fans in particular that I'm talking about. "Having said that...I am concerned that looks will not equal great attractions. The redo of Fantasyland comes to mind. The recent changes at DCA, for example, were stellar, however the project came up short on "great" attractions in my opinion. The results have exceeded their expectations, so what do I know?

However, from what I've seen, it's just not anything completely groundbreaking. DAK needs the extra capacity, and this is sure to pull more guests in, but it doesn't appear to be a game changer to me >>The concept art looks great. No need to ask permission since we all know the pointless comparisons will start appearing around the internet any moment now (if they haven't already) and continue until Jesus comes.

Originally Posted By FerretAfros >>"...other than the giant structurally-questionable mountain..." LOL, what does this mean Ferret?<< It means that I'm not sure how they're going to build it. It will take a ridiculous amount of interior steel support to build anything that looks remotely like the 'floating mountain' in the model. The bottom is the smallest part of it, and there are several smaller 'mountains' jutting out from it. It can be done, but it would be very expensive for a show element that doesn't contain an attraction, store, or restaurant and serves no real purpose other than to look pretty And we've seen WDW's recent track record with their unusual structures. The Tree of Life and Splash Mountain both have coverings over the walkways below them to prevent pieces from falling off and hitting a guest. If they can't even maintain a 'normal' shaped mountain like SM, I have very little confidence in them to keep up something as complex (with various parts dangling over major walkways) as the one in the mountain in the concept model

Can't wait to see how they intend on supporting them .. and look like they are just floating.
