I agree. I haven't seen the movie, but from what they're showing it all makes sense to me. I'm sure there will be tons of minor details and names that I don't understand, but I'm glad that I understand the land on the broadest level. I hope that the attractions are able to maintain that same appeal

I liked it too. It got very positive reviews and a Best Picture Oscar nomination. But I think the crazy box office it did and the Oscar attention has caused a bit of a backlash. Well, that and the fact that the movie did have flaws. But overall, I remember liking it better than I expected.

Those responses were pretty mixed. Lots of high praise, but a few folks who went so far as to say that they wouldn't see the movie. Different strokes I guess. In the end the film broke some records and was widely acclaimed for it's creative visuals, and I suppose those are the primary things that are driving the AK project forward at Disney.

On a related note, I saw the trailer for the Hobbit for the first time in a theater last night and it looks like the most painful movie to watch, yet I could sense the anticipation in the audience. I'm sorry, but you couldn't pay me to sit through 2+ hours of that junk.

I went to see the first Hobbit movie last year, not knowing that it was part of a series. Having read the book, I was looking forward to it. About an hour in, I figured out that it was multiple parts. About 90 minutes in, I figured out that it was at least 3 parts. However, about 20 minutes in, I could tell that there was really only enough material for 1 part. I have no intention to see parts 2 or 3

All three LOTR movies and The Hobbit were boring, much like Avatar, but both franchises are good opportunities for themepark rides or lands.

I find the Potter movies boring too, and you just have to look what Universal did with it.

Never seen Avatar but will likely check it out in advance of the new films and the attractions.
