I don't think the execs care too much, besides they are too busy counting money to care anyways,,,

In fact, I would imagine that Disney would happily and quickly break the contract with Universal if they could find a way to do so. The evidence that they prefer to have full control over the Marvel properties is right there with the way they handled "The Avengers". They bought out Paramount's right to distribute the film (as well as "Iron Man 3") by essentially paying them to do nothing what they would have made to distribute the film. Disney isn't making a larger percentage of the profits than they would have if Paramount had distributed it. Instead, they believed that they could do a substantially better job at marketing and distributing the film, thus, making it worth the cost to buy out the other company. I suspect that Disney probably thinks the same thing about the theme park rights. Sure, Universal is essentially giving them free advertising right now, but is that really more valuable than having tie-ins to the characters and movies in their own parks? -Jeff

Is the 3-D experience any better, or is it gimicky like most 3-D?

The colors are more vibrant in the 2D version, and there is really nothing in it that blows you away in 3D. Now if they throw a 3D attraction in Disneyland and have a version where when Hulk smashes the ground the theatre shakes, I may change my mind about 3D.

I think Avengers could have 500 million by Memorial day. June is when the competition will get fierce. Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1 but the one and the week after is Prometheus which after Dark Knight and Avengers is the film really on my radar.
