66% of that is Republican shenanigans. (more like 75% if you include the lying)

    Just sayin.

By the way, isn't it "bald faced lying"?

Maybe I missed something on that one, I never heard "bold" myself.

First, the practical. It's my experience that people ask questions only expecting to get back answers that make sense to them and their ideology. You cannot rationalize with an irrational person, and this woman was irrational.

Second, the tactical. Frank could've said, "Well ma'am, your question is a logical fallacy because it assumes the program at hand is a "Nazi program." It is not, and here's why." She would've shouted some more, waved her picture some more, and that would've been it.

And then there would've been no headlines, and we wouldn't be talking about it. Frank emboldened the other side of the debate - his side. It's still a top story at Huffington Post. Yes, I know what Huffington Post is - and the only people who will be embolden by this are liberals anyway. It's already a popular hit on YouTube.

You may find that disappointing, that we've sunk that low, but Frank didn't start this fight.

"The only one of these spellings recognized by the Oxford English Dictionary as meaning “shameless” is “barefaced.” Etymologies often refer to the prevalence of beards among Renaissance Englishmen, but beards were probably too common to be considered as deceptively concealing. It seems more likely that the term derived from the widespread custom at that time among the upper classes of wearing masks to social occasions where one would rather not be recognized."

Your factoid for the day. (and because I started wondering, myself)

This is what separates us from the tin hat crowd: genuine curiosity about the world around us. (And thanks, velo, for the clarification. I always thought the saying had something to do with beard vs no beard, but I guess that's not correct.)

The tin hat crowd doesn't want to think and expects others to do it for them, for whatever reason. One could reasonably argue that uneducated individuals past 65 years would rather not engage in critical thinking, given all the opportunities for continuing education on the government's dime, especially for seniors. Retired folk who are healthy enough to shop and drive a car and attend political rallies are healthy enough to attend at least one class each semester through adult ed, senior centers, or community colleges.

So, if you're older than 65 and are still uneducated, chances are good that you don't enjoy learning new things and have chosen to remain ignorant. And there's no way a rational and logical thinking adult can reason with someone who chooses to remain ignorant.

It's no wonder that Fox News' main demographic is composed of uneducated white males over 65. It's also the main demographic for the disruptors at the town hall meetings.

    Coincidence? I don't think so.
