I'm having less and less respect for this category as time marches on.

Oh well, two of my predictions made the list: Puss in Boots and Rango. This category is positively schizophrenic this year. Will the Academy go with the largely unknown "art" film? Or the popular favorite?
Originally Posted By mawnck >>Will the Academy go with the largely unknown "art" film? And both are distributed by G-Kids IIRC (the "Secret of Kells" guys), who won't have enough money to mount an effective campaign for one film, let alone two. So there are only three contenders here. But it's an honor to be nominated. At least this year we won't have a Best Picture nominee to muck things up, which come to think of it is a mixed blessing. Wow. No Wrinkles, no Arthur Christmas, yet Puss in Boots and A Cat in Paris are in. My jaw is still on the floor. Makes it difficult to walk around the office.

Which is all fine for any film, but it's just not nearly as great as all the hype would make you think. Then again, I'm just negative, and often don't see what all the fuss is about (see also: the Pooh franchise).

I must confess, I haven't really loved anything Aardman have made before - creature comforts was ok, but i don't like Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run or Flushed Away. I loved how KF2 had great art design, wonderful characters and a great story (though the first one was better). Tangle was very unique, and visually ironic. But I can't say that I liked it much.
