I don't know Gaston. The wife is going to go out to dinner with kids as our son has a school trip to Boston Museum of Fine Arts tomorrow (they have to pick up stuff) so I will be alone but after yesterday's debacle? Maybe I'll just try 2 holes as the 3rd tee is only a 3 metal away from our back yard. Sometimes I tee off on 3 and if I yank it left into the woods/pond I limp home with my head down. This game will kill you. Go for the 800 dollar big stick!!!!! You only live once, I think Any hope there as in weather clearing, unlike poor 55? We want Disney! We want Disney!

Of course I didn't score and only got one par but............. I see the whole frickin country is cold except our beloved Orlando. If I wasn't so busy, I'd be at Bay Hill tomorrow to take up my real estate broker's offer to play. 55--It looks like you STILL have it cold but at least it looks like 40's today? That's better at least and hopeful? Colorado Gaston????????? I know who cares as you're stuck in the office anyways

Hopefully it'll be gone by Saturday so I can bang some drivers around and see what I want to buy. I'm leaning towards Cleveland TI460. If it hits like my Cleveland 5 wood (quadpro), then it's a no brainer. However, I'm a Callaway guy, and I love their products. EVerything I've read, though, says the Nike Ignite and TM 580 XD are worth a look, too. Too many options! You playing today?

Are you going with the 10.5 like my G5 or the 9 which is what I think might be best for your ball flight in that altitude? 35 years ago we never had this selection process problem, but it is a GOOD problem to have? It's like our Red Sox having too much pitching. Enjoy the selection process as I did in Dec. It is fun and remember I did it outside when it was like 28 so anything above that should be warm

I think the 8 is too low, though, as everything I read about my ball flight tells me I need more backspin to stay up longer. My ball starts low, goes really high, and then hits a wall and falls flat to the ground. I get all distance on carry. If I start the ball higher to begin with, I can actually maximize my flight time, which is where I get most of my distance from anyway. Oh I'll enjoy it all right. I just hate having to choose between my beloved Callaway adn the other top brands. I try not to be brand specific, but it's hard. I've hit my GBB for so long now that it would be hard to hit anything else, but it's all about performance. I don't get paid for endorsements! Actually, the BEST driver I ever had was a Top Flite 400 9 degree. I used to BANG that club...but the shaft broke. I returned it, but haven't been able to find anohter one ever since. ;(

Originally Posted By cape cod joe Gaston--I'm like that too as far as name brands and my wife says the same thing as you "they don't pay me so" I had a clean slate when I went to be fitted by the guy who played behind me in high school back in 66-68. He is now ranked in the top 10 in state so he knows his stuff and he remembered my swing. We started off with titleist and I told him I had trouble hitting the long irons so I hit ALL 4's. I literally couldn't even hit the titleist blade so we quickly switched to the cavities as in Mizuna. I started hitting the Mizuna 4 great off the mat. It was so cold Gaston that he went inside the door to watch me hit. He then came back with the G5's and I started cranking the four even better than the Mizunas. It was scary as I never hit the ball that well EVER! Then he got the 10.5 big stick out and the rest is happy camper history. I think you'll instinctly know what feels right. It is important to have a clue as you have with loft and of course stiffness, etc. I had NO clue but my old high school buddy guided me through. You, Gastonhave a great grasp for what you're looking for, so it should be stoked city! Your wife doesn't mind the big bucks you'll be spending?

My 3 is a Callaway Steelhead 3+, and the 5 is a Cleveland Quadpro. I may buy a new putter, but probably not until next year. I DO want to get either a hybrid or a 7 wood to replace the 3 iron. I hit fairway woods so well I'd be stupid not to. I was reading earlier today about guys with swing speeds right at what mine is for the driver (97 mph), and saying that even though it's listed as a stiff shaft, that I should consider a regular flex for increased distance. It may help in distance, but my experience has proven that a more whippy shaft also results in less accurate shots, which is actually much more important than distance. I'll check them all out, trust me. It'll be a great day! I just love the feel of my GBB, but I know it's limiting me, what with all the new tech out there. I saw some Ping G2's on sale yesterday at a great price, but they seem rather old.

Then we could close in Nov with NO more money as they have a special Pulte home deal to cover the closing costs as an incentive.
